Silicone Baby Bottles & Sippy Cups

My daughter loves her Nuby Silicone sippy cup! The nipple is squishy and the handles are in a good position for her. As soon as she started showing interest in holding a cup or bottle herself I would put water or a little diluted apple juice in the sippy cup and let her play around. I think I started that between 3 and 4 months. Of course she wasn't good at it then but I didn't see any harm in letting her play with it and try. Now she's great with it. Good luck!

I am so glad you posted this! We use the Playtex drop in bottles for my son (when he is not nursing) but we started adding at least 1 Nubby Silicone Sippy-Cup to the mix everyday. Normally with very watered down apple juice or bmilk. He absolutuly loves it. They are about $6.00 a piece but are the smallest and lightest Sippy-Cups I could find. The nipple is squishy and soft and easy for him to use. I highly recommend using this cup! And, no, its not too early. My son will be 5 months old on the 17th. Oh, and the handles are so small and soft that their little hands hold it perfectly!!!!! :)

Don't know about the silicone, but I do think the baby is too young for a sippy cup. She is trying to grab the bottle, but it is doubtful that she has the coordination to actually be able to accomplish that. She is smart and she wants to do it, but she wouldn't be able to handle it yet.

Not sure if you're aware that Born Free has sippy cups as well. They have different spouts for each stage. You can get them at Babies R Us and some Targets carry them. I don't think it's too early to try it but she may not be really ready for it, they usually have a different sucking function and it may just frustrate her. Let her figure out how to hold her own bottle, there's nothing wrong with that. They say most babies aren't really ready until 7-9 months.
