I'm a proud parent of a 2yr. Old daughter. My daughter is extremely advanced and i want to take advantage of her learning skills to teach her baby sign language. She currently knows engligh and spanish but i want to introduce her to something different. Does anyone know of any local schools or places that teach baby sign language either in broward or miami.

What can I do next?

Check out Nova Family Center. Most of the Hispanic women I know have children who speak at least two languages and sign. I am pretty sure they went to the classes at Nova. In South Florida many of the homes are bilingual.

I am pretty sure that Gymboree offers singing classes. We bought a book called Baby Signs (Acredolo) and used it to teach our son.

I'm looking for a school for myself and my 10 year old daughter to learn sign language ..But in the meantime, Channel 79 on comcast or WLRN at 11am everyday has a sign language program for 30 minutes .. I love it .. But i just found this out last week .. So i record all the shows and review with my daughter every night as we watch it together , then practice the next day everything we have learned .. Good luck .. M.

I'm not sure where you can take a class, but a good introduction might be the Signing Time videos. We used them with my daughter when she was 1 and it helped her communicate with us when she was pre-verbal. Regardless, the videos are fun for kids with some cute music that incorpates the signs that they teach on the videos. I think they would be great for kids of any age.

You can find info and order the videos on www.signingtime.com or order them on amazon.com.

Good luck.
