Sick All the Time!!

I am now 8 weeks pregnant and I am sick all of the time!! I am always nauseous, have a headache and I puke at least 3-4 times a day. Doesn't matter the time of day either . . . I work full time and do not want it to affect my productivity but I am about to die! I am praying that this is only going to last through my 1st trimester. Any suggestions to make it through this are welcomed!!

There are things called "preggie pops" available at Once Upon a Child that are really good at helping the nausea calm down. Ginger ale and saltines.
It does get better in the second trimester.

I got some suckers called B-natal I do believe that helped. I believe I got them from my chiropractors office. Dr. Bernstein on St. Charles Rock Road and Ashby in St. Ann. My 2nd pregnancy I was very sick and that helped. Good luck:-) Hope that helped.

Try ginger. I was so sick when I was pregnant with my daugher. I found some ginger hard candy at a Health Food Store. I think they were called "Gin Gins". They came in a yellow package (like cough drops). I don't know where you live, but I found them at Nutrition Stop in St.Peters MO. It's on Mexico Road. I also ate Ginger Snaps. These worked wonders for me.

Ginger Snaps worked best for me, and I'm not a fan of Ginger. But I was willing to use whatever would help keep food down. Good luck.

Hey D.!!! Congrats! I, too work full time. I am now 15 weeks with our first baby and I am 32. The first 12 weeks were ROUGH!!! I was always sick, no energy and had serious headaches. I am finally getting back to a sort of "normal." I have a lot more energy now and the sickness is mostly gone. Still feel kind of icky in the evenings sometimes. However, it is nothing like it was in the beginning. IT WILL GET BETTER!!! Try to get as much rest as you can. I found that really helped me. I get up at 4:45 am and was used to hitting the sack around 10 or 10:30, I found going to bed around 8 or 8:30 really helped. I felt a lot better. My hubby and I didn't get to spend a lot of time together, but he helped pick up, do dishes, put away laundry and that gave me the extra time to get some ZZZZ's!!

HI! I know just what you are going through. I was sick all the time until I delivered and with the first pregnancy I was given an anti-nausea pill prescription which helped some. I was throwing up more than you are. Then with the second baby, it was much worse. My doctor suggested I try a vitamin B-12 shot once a month and the anti-nausea med. It helped greatly. I could not function and even take care of our first without this combo. I also had several complications during my pregnancies and both boys (now 12 & 6 ) were born 4 weeks premature and also had some health problems because of that. All is well now and I wish you good luck and hope it helps!

I feel your pain! I was also sick for quite a while, and puking several times a day. My son just turned one. My advice is no matter what to make sure that you are getting enough water. I know it's hard, but it is much better than having to get an IV for dehydration, which is what I had to do. The more water, the better your stomach feels. Unfortunately time is the best solution. I also worked full time and I wish you luck. Try to take a day here and there to help you get through it. Make sure you aren't eating things that are h*** o* your throat (acidic) when it comes back up. Good luck!

I was sick for nine months w/ all 3 of my pregnancies. The best thing I found to help was Ginger Root pills. You can find them at a health food store & my obgyn said they were harmless. The only problem I had was that they were large and I had a difficult time getting them down while nauseous. If I was successful in swallowing they really helped. Good luck & remember it is worth it!!

Hi D.. Obviously, many of us have had experience with the awful nausea!

For me, I lost several pounds in my first trimester before my doc prescribed compazine, but the drug that worked best was certainly Zofran. It went generic last fall, so it isn't as expensive as it used to be for chemo patients. Worked like a charm as long as I always had something in my stomach. Club crackers worked on the go, but if you can get some protein into you--milkshakes worked for me, and later peanut butter crackers--that will help more and last longer.

I would second the Preggo Pops from Motherhood! I had a big cruise vacation that I couldn't cancel during my worst weeks of morning sickness and those things were a life-saver! The motion sickness band did nothing for me but make my wrist hurt, but ginger very helpful. Look for ginger lozenges at Trader Joe's or World Market--they are easier to take than the crystalized ginger and less spicy.

If you're lucky, it will fade around the 11th or 12th week like mine did. Then you can welcome the heartburn instead! :)

I was the same way. Talk to your doctor; he may prescribe an anti-nausea medication which helps some. Also, drinking ginger ale helps some. I went to Whole Foods Market and got Hansen's ginger ale because it has a lot less sugar than regular, and it settled my stomach better. I unfortunately didn't find anything that prevented it completely, but those things helped some. Good luck!

Hon, it will get better. I did the same thing with both of my children, for the whole 9 months and it slowed down after the first trimester but it did not stop. So I ate lots of healthy food and stopped most of my junking which was really good for the babies just not much fun for me. The best part was when it was time for delivery I had both of them really fast. And not much in the contractions bothered me. So ask your doctor if there is anything that will help you and eat as healthy as you can and most important good luck and rest whenever you have a moment. Also my first pregnancy was at 31 too.

Oh I feel for you!! I have a two year old son and am currently expecting our second boy in two months. With both pregnancies I was extremely sick for the first four months. In fact, on three occasions I had to go to the hospital to get fluids because I was so dehydrated from constant vomiting. Every smell, sight, thought, etc. would make me sick. It was h*** o* me and just as h*** o* my husband!! My OB with my first son would not prescribe an anti-nausea medication, so I was forced to try "at home remedies" including sour jolly ranchers and half of a Unisom pill. At the time I was traveling via plane with my job and working over 50 hours a week - it was horrible. My first OB suggested the Unisom pill, but my OB since did not recommend that. In fact, my new OB gave me a prescription for Zofran, which is actually used to help cancer patients going through chemo stop from being so sick - it is obviously safe to take during pregnancy. It was a life-saver with my second pregnancy. Talk to your doctor about getting a prescription.

The truth is, once you get through your first tri-mester you should feel much better. If I had to do it over again, I would have switched doctors with the first pregnancy and gone to a doctor that would have prescribed Zofran out of the gate. No one should have to go through what I went through with our first son. I, too, felt I was dying at the time! Good luck and the best is yet to come!!

I totally know what you're going through. My Dr wanted to put me on Zofram, but it is sooooo expensive that she told me to take 1 Benadryl and 1 B12 Vitamin every 8 hours. It worked like a charm. If that doesn't work, try the expensive stuff. Hope you feel better soon!

Hi there. I have to Girls. 1 off my doughter's,with her first Baby she was sick for about 4 Months every day.She was nauseous every day.But after 4 Month it whent away.She aet crakers and had Sprite.Now her first Baby is 3 Years old.

I was nauseous for about the first 4 months. I recommend dry toast, crackers and chew gum! I had never heard of anyone else chewing gum, I got the idea on my own. One of my pregnancy cravings one day was some bubble gum. I started chewing Orbit bubblemint because that was what someone at work had and gave me a piece. I LOVED IT!!! It helped incredibly with my heartburn, and I haven't the faintest clue why. I also kept an extra large bottle of Tums in my purse and was popping those things like they were candy. Which was alright, though, because I couldn't stomach milk through the entire pregnancy. So, at least I was getting calcium too! Those are just a couple ideas that worked for me. Talk to your doc. Maybe he can give you something, too. My OBGYN was always telling me if I couldn't handle the heartburn and indigestion to let him know and he'd prescribe me something. I just managed it with my gum and Tums. Good luck! Hope it gets better soon!

D., I can sympathize. I was nauseous quite a bit with my first child and had migraines frequently - something I've never had unless I was pregnant. A friend told of different foods that help calm the stomach and they really seemed to help. Also, for me, if I never let my stomach get empty, it REALLY helped the nauseous. I would keep munchies close by at work and even on my nightstand at night. Some of the foods that worked well for me were crackers with peanut butter, yogurt and bananas. I would just eat small meals about 6 times a day. I know everyone's body is different but I hope this helps you out. K. M

I was the same way from about 6 weeks to about 13/14 weeks. I eventually called my doctor and told him I could not do it because I was not able to work, or do ANYTHING else for that matter. Dr. actually put me on a few things that helped tremendously: ginger 100mg capsules 2-3 times per day, vitamin B6 2 times per day, and unisom 1/2 tab 3 times per day (this unisom is the doxylamine kind- ok for pregnancy- don't know why). I felt soooo much better, even though I don't like to take anything being pregnant. So, you might ask your Dr. about some of these things. I also got a lot of rest/naps! I was sick all the time with my second child and I can relate to your issue! There is something your doctor can give you to help with the morning sickness. (In our case, morning, noon AND night!) My doctor told me to try 1/2 of a Unisom and a vitamin B6 with it. That worked wonders for me! I took that for the first 6 months of my pregnancy and kept a package of saltines by the bed to have first thing in the mornings. Congratulations and good luck!!!

First, congrats on the pregnancy!

I can totally relate to what you are going through. I started feeling nauseous around week 6. I got sick 1-3 times per day until I was ~ 5 months pregnant, and then it went down to about once per week, but I had indigestion until my beautiful baby girl was finally born.
I didn't gain much weight through the pregnancy, I was only about 10-15 lbs over my pre-pregnancy weight when I delivered, and within a week was 10 lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight. I'm sure it was because I barely kept anything that I ate.

There are lots of theories out there on why this happens (my favorite being that you are carrying a boy, and so your body is rejecting the foreign hormones or something, since I had a girl, I doubt it's true!). The reality is they don't know why some women get nauseous and other don't. What I discovered based on my research and experience:

-- most women get over the "morning" sickness by 12 weeks. I wasn't that lucky. Hopefully you will be...
--the baby will get the nutrients it needs even if you aren't eating anything (or rather aren't keeping anything you eat down). He/she basically sucks it out of you, that is why women lose bone density during pregnancy, because the baby needs the calcium. So don't worry about nutritional balance, just figure out what foods you can keep down and what foods to avoid. If you can find a time of the day that you don't tend to get sick and a food that you seem to keep down OK (toast, crackers with PB whatever) try to use that meal to get a multi vitamin down.
-- foods that tended to make me sicker: spicy, fried, heavy sauces
-- foods I was able to keep down most of the time (although not always): toast, those crackers with PB on them, PB& J sandwiches, zweibak cookies, popsicles, ice cream, dishes prepared with Ginger (I ate a lot of ginger chicken at my favorite Tai restaurant) -- Ginger is wonderful for nausea. You can get ginger in various forms (teas, candies, gummies ...) from trader joes. I always had a couple of cups of tea per day, some candy in my purse.
-- you can get nausea accupressure bracelets (I don't remember where I got mine) it looks like a wrist band, and has a plastic thing that pushes the anti-nausea accupressure point. It didn't work for me, but I know lots of women who it did work for.
-- don't let yourself get hungry. Eat small frequent meals. there is something about the hunger that increases the chance of losing whatever you eat next.
-- It is TOTALLY worth it. Although I threw up more in the 9 months I was pregnant than in the 38 years prior to becoming pregnant, you (almost) forget it all when you see your beautiful baby.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! It is a wild ride, but the most amazing and miraculous experience I've ever had!

I also was VERY sick during my first pregnancy. A few things to suggest:
1) Eat some crackers before you get out of bed in the morning. I kept saltines and Quaker Oatmeal Bars in my nightstand. It helped a little.
2) You have to be very careful not to get dehydrated, so drink as much water or gatorade as you can stomach. Little bits at a time, because if you're like I was, even drinking made me nauseated.
3) Talk to your OB ASAP about the vomiting and nausea. My OB gave me an anti-nausea med called Zofran (I think there is another one also). It did help some. The important thing is to not get dehydrated, and if you are vomiting a lot, it can be Hyperemesis Gravidum (not sure the spelling is correct). I work in the ER and we admit pregnant women with this condition from time to time.
4) About the headaches, I had migraines with my first pregnancy (never had them until I was preggers) and they were miserable. I also was prescribed some medicine that was safe during pregnancy for migraines.

The good news is that it does end! Usually by about 12-14 weeks, which probably sounds like forever. Just contact your OB, and hang in there. The second trimester is the most exciting and by the time you're there, you will have forgotton all about your misery! Trust me, I forgot EVERYTHING that made me miserable in my first pregnancy and had a second child 20 months later! The best thing: in my second pregnancy, I was not nearly as nauseated and never even threw up!

I had a lot of morning sickness during my pregnancy too. I found that eating a few saltine crackers throughout the day helped a lot. I guess it was just making sure something was in my stomach all the time.

I was horribly sick with my first two pregnancies and while there is no real fix for it the only thing that worked for me was drinking sprite or ginger ale. And to stay out of the car!!

the ONLY thing that helped me through morning sickness was SIPPING WATER ALL DAY. All the recomended stuff just made me SICK MORE. But it also HURT real bad when I would throw up, but if I was throwing up water it came out easy and wasn't painful at all. Keep water in you at all times.

Crackers and Ginger ale seemed to work for my Daughter. It is a normal process of pregnacy and I had it day and night. main thing is not to get dehydrated. let the Dr know youa re aways sick their is medication too. Best of Luck and God bless you all.

I have one thing that worked for me through 3 pregnancies - but before I tell you, just know that after you persevere through this awful time, the memory of it will pale in comparison to the little person you are sacrificing for. I know it seems awful now - hang in there - it'll be over soon - promise!

Some DR or mentor-mom explained it to me that your prego hormones are like acid in your stomach and that carbs are like sponges that absorb them. So, I kept graham crackers (saltines are for chili!) in my car, by my bed, in the living room, in my desk at work. From the first time I woke up, I shoved them down and chased them with gulps from the water I always had near me. Anytime I started to feel that life-stopping fuzzy feeling of nausea, I used mind-over-matter and shoved them down anyway. This might not work for you but it may prevent a portion of the problem. If nothing else, it made me feel proactive and not like such a victim. Feeling like I was doing all I could to prevent it helped me persevere from a healthier frame of mind. (This was well before the Adkins/no-carb movement and I don't think eating all those graham crackers made me have extra weight gain. If anything, it kept me healthier by keeping nutrition in my body and not hurling out of my mouth!) In pregnancy, nausea lies to you - it makes you think you don't want to eat which is the worst thing for making the awful feeling go away.

Looking back, I think this unpleasant side effect was like the boot camp of teaching me about the sacrifice of motherhood. One day you'll be up in the night with your child's stomach flu and find yourself saying something like, "Oh, Honey, I wish I could be sick for you. I can't stand to see you this miserable." Then, you'll remember the days you're living now and smile and think to yourself, "Wait a minute - what am I saying?!" Hang in there - and go sprinkle your life with some happy-grahams! :-)

I was pregnant with twins and was sick for the first 3 months. I also worked full time. I counted one time and threw up over 70 times one day. (Some was just dry heaves cuz I didn't have anything else to throw up) I was absolutely miserable. Call your doctor and ask if there is anything you can take for the nausea, like dramamine or something. It seems like that is safe to take, but definitely call your doctor first.
It does get better. Just hang in there!! It is definitely worth it!!

Wow, does this question and all the responses take me back 20 years. But, it was 10 years later that I found the real answer. Pregnancy and/or pre-natal vitamins threw off my pH balance. I had acidocis. MDs tend to simply pass it all off as morning sickness. I felt like throwing up for 9 months and never threw up once!! I'd almost bet that every pregnant woman who had this particular problem was taking some poorly made prenatal vitamin.

Find a good nutritionist and a reliable source for WHOLE FOOD SUPPLEMENTS. The artificially assembled multi-vitamins are not always the right combination for each of us. Find a company that has high integrity, like Young Living Essential Oils. Some companies are using sources that are already rancid when mixing the multivitamin, even companies with popular reputations at the health food stores. It is worth finding out if the vitamins are causing the problem. This is not morning sickness. That goes away by the second trimester. If they are making you feel sick, they just might be making your baby feel sick as well.

I feel for you. I was very sick with all three of my children. I do know you feel like you're going to die, but the good thing is, once it's all over, you'll forget just how bad it is (or was). I tried just about everything. Vitamin B6, eating something small every couple hours or every hour, whatever you do, stay hydrated. I know it seems impossible, but you want to avoid kidney stones or iv's. Hang in there girl. It's tough, but it's SOOOO worth it. Congratulations and good luck.

Oh how I remember those day's with my 2 pregnancies,what helped me was Ginger Ale lemon drop's mint's and fruit I was sick for most of my pregancies.And don't foprget to brush your teeth after throwing up,it help's.

From what I recall in the books, the nausea may start around the sixth or seventh week and typically goes til around the 12th to 14th week in utero. there are exceptions either way on this. I personally did not have morning sickness but "24 hour sickness" and i worked too..it was very hard. I found the strangest things made me feel better...like being able to keep down Mcdonald's egg mcmuffin and orange juice when all else failed..now explain that to me, grease and acidy citrus drink? so you may want to experiment. others say soda crackers in morning before you get out of bed, many light meals, peppermint or chamomile tea (if dr says is ok) and experimenting wiht your prenatal vitamins have helped them.

Note - I found out many years later that the nausea during pregnancy was considered legit disability issue at my company..to my big surprise...so if it gets REALLY bad might want to explore at your company. If i had known at the time i might have taken advantage since it would have been just a slight reduction in pay due to our policies here.

I had the worst case of morning sickness to where I was on an IV at home have your doctor put you on antinausea medicine the one that worked really well for me was Zofran!! Good Luck it will pass. S.

I just had my first and I was sick for 9 months straight. I know it's not encouraging but just want you to know it's a real possibility. I couldn't even keep water down. My doctor prescribed Zofran because I kept ending up in the hospital. I was passing out all the time because I had no energy. Zofran is a wonder drug. If you can get it I suggest the disolvable tablet not the swallowed one. That was another problem I had, I'd take my medicine (swallow) and then throw it right back up, so the disolvable tablet fixed that problem. As far as making sure I got some nutrients I got addicted to Ensure. For some reason it sat well with my stomache and I knew I was getting good nutrients from it. I also ate a lot of mashed potatoes, those sat well. There were days though that without that pill nothing would stay down. Hang in there because once you see that baby you forget it all. I work full time so I understand how challenging this is, but it will pass. The day after I had Ella I was back to feeling great. I could eat anything. Amazing how that happens.

Congratulations! My best advice is talk to your mom. I was sick with both of my children exactly like my mom was with her six children. It helped having her tell me what she went thru and that it would get better. It is very dificult with your first child because you do not have anything to compare it with. What helped me is taking my prenatal pills at night and not in the morning. Also, I took snacks to work with me and made sure I ate something every two hours. Good luck, and it is true what everyone says. Once you have your child you will forget everything that happened during those nine months.

Don't give up. I was sick all day with both of my pregnancies, morning, noon, evening and night. But, it eventually slacked off and then I eventually woke up feeling good which was a great surprise. It lasted 16 weeks with my first and 12 with my second. They were both girls. It did help if I tried to keep a little something in my stomach all the time. Remember this too shall pass and it's definately worth it.

Not sure when you take your prenatal vitamins, but I found taking mine before I go to bed helped me not be so yucky feeling. Also, like the other lady said, keeping food in your tummy at all times is good. Good luck. Feeling sick is just miserable!

I suffered from severe sickness also. I would get so dehydrated I had to go to the hospital for IV's. With my second pregancy they gave me a medication called Zofran (It is a drug they give patients who are taking chemo). In fact I have a friend who is pregnant with twins now who is taking this and it is helping her out a lot. My cousin took that medicine and was also given some kind of bracelet that gave you a little shock every so often to help. She said it worked. I personally lost 30 pounds at the beginning of both of my pregancies. I thought I was going to die. Ask your Dr to see if that Med is right for you? Good Luck!

Hi D., I am a mother of 3 and a Doctor of Chiropractic with special interest in treating pregnant women and children. I find that most women who experience nausea during pregnancy are lacking enough protein intake. One thing that seems to work nicely, even for myself during my pregnancies was using whey protein powder in the form of a shake or smoothie. Give it a try. Sorry to let you know some people have the sickness the whole time.. others only have it a short while... I was one in the first group. I ended up losing weight I was so sick, and going to the hospital many times to get IV's to rehydrate. There is a medicine if it continues that helps some, it is mainly for chemo patients, but it helps with the throwing up all the time. It also of course Im sure you have heard, helps if you eat small meals all time, chew on peppermint candy or peppermint tea, keep ice packs around to put on your head or neck when you start to feel sick. Make sure that you get up in time so that you are not rushed, the more your rushed or in a hurry or any stress in all honesty will also push you over the edge. Try to stay at a slow but steady pace all day. It soundsl ike small steps, but it is the only way I got through the pregnancy... and Let me be one to tell you from the other side, you will remmeber it no doubt, but the first time you see the precious bundle of joy, you will know it was worth it. We are here, when you need to vent or talk, make sure you know people have made it through this... you may wonder at times why did you want this, but remember this too shall pass, and you will get such a reward from it.

I had BAD morning sickness for a while, so I'm sorry to hear you're going through this, too! Check with your doctor before you do anything, but my doctor recommended a combination of Sominex and B-6 vitamin. I don't remember exactly, I think one was cut in half. Whatever it was, it worked better than I could have imagined. You may want to ask about this and give it a try. Good Luck!

I had a peppermint in my mouth the whole time I was pregnant with my son. When I got pregnant with my daughter 15 months later I could not even think about eating another peppermint! My morning sickness was so bad that I ended up on prescription medication. It helped, but I always had to have a piece of hard candy in my mouth at all times! The peppermint worked great the first time around! If it makes you feel any better, my doctor always told me that morning sickness was a sign of a healthy pregnancy! Good luck!

Try the Preggie Pops from the Motherhood Maternity store. They come in herbal flavors that aid in nausea. Also, try keeping small, bland foods in your desk and purse to munch on throughout the day. Crackers and yogurt would be good. Peppermint tea is also helpful with nausea. This is more than likely going to end once you hit the 12-13 week mark. I know how awful it feels! I don't know who came up with the term "morning sickness"...because it goes on all day long! Good luck and hope these suggestions help.

I also was very sick when I was pregnant with each of my two sons. It can go away at around 12 weeks as others have said, but it can also stick around the whole pregnancy like it did for me. Obviously you want to be optimistic, but realitic at the same time. During my first pregnancy, I used Emetrol, which is completely safe and should be able to be found at some grocery or drug stores. I was also put on a prescription medicine. With my second son, I knew more what to expect and I feel like I stayed on top of it better. As others have mentioned the anti-motion sickness wrist bands, similarly you can take Drmamine. This is what my OB had me do when I was sick during my second pregnancy. There is obviously a time when more drastic measures must be taken because it gets that serious. However, if you want to try something before going to prescription drugs, try Dramamine. I worked like a miracle for me. I took the regular stuff, but they do have a non-drowsy formula. I just don't know if it works the same since I didnt try it. All the other advice you have been given is great too. The thing is that what works for one person may not work for another, so you will have to try out all the different remedies until you find the one that works for you. Hopefully you find it soon, I know how miserable you must be.

Ginger is great for nausea! I had horrible morning sickness and I ate ginger chews and hard ginger candy. They were called gin-gins and I got them at my local health food market(Clovers or Hyvee) They are made by a company called the Ginger People. I would have those, crackers, and water by my bed and before I got out of bed, even sat up, I would have some crackers and water and then start sucking on a ginger candy. Bananas also help with nausea in some women and smelling salts can help too. Good luck!

Water! Water, water, water , WATER! I had the same problem only it lasted until I was almost 5 months and learned the hard way. You need to drink lots of water, but not all at once. Sip it throughout the day. I would say atleast 8-10 8oz glasses (remember you're drinking for two now) or more if you really are throwing up a lot when you get sick. You have to replace what you're loosing and then some to get your body to settle down.

I went through the same thing with all three of my pregnancies. I was teaching while I was pregnant with my first two and was a home day care provider with my third. Needless to say, I could not let my morning sickness get me down. I hate to tell you this, but I was into my fifth month of pregnancy all three times before I started feeling better. With my first son, my doctor prescribed and I bought a Relief Band. It is a battery operated wrist band that sends shockwaves. You can look it up on the web. It really helped with my severe morning sickness. However, it was expensive and doesn't work for everone. I tried my Relief Band with my daughter, but it gave me little relief. With my last son, I lost a good 10-12 pounds so the doctor prescribed Zofran. Just be aware that it is expensive and not all insurances will pay for it. The directions say to take it every four hours as needed. My doctor gave me 15 pills and told me to make it last for a month. Keep in mind that I was nauseous all day. So, I broke the pills in half and took it right before I knew I was going to be getting really bad sick. I usually started getting really bad sick at about 4:00 everyday. The pills really took away the intense nausea. Don't forget to eat small bland meals and snacks. It helps having a little something in your stomach. I wish you nothing but the best and I hope you get over the morning sickness soon. It really is worth everything you have to go through. Kids are a wonderful blessing.

A piece of advice I recieved and found helpful was to watch my blood sugar and up proteins. A mom of 8 gave me this advice....when first getting up in the morning, drink some oj and eat a few crackers. Try to hae it ready just as you wake up or have your husband bring it to you. Not long after that eat something high in protein....like a hot breakfast with eggs and meat. I actaully found tuna helped throughout the day because it is so high in protein. I know some of this sound hard or gross, but if you can try it, it may work for you. It worked every time for my friend, who was sick through out her whole pregnancies and for me.

Something that worked for me was taking Vitamin B6, that was what my doctor recommended and it was a life saver. I was told that I could take it up to 4 times a day, but after taking one in the morning, I was good to go the rest of the day. I was shocked at how quickly it worked. It did not work for one of my co-workers but everyone else I know who has tried has said that it worked for them. Good luck!

I was really sick with all 3 of my pregnancies. The 1st one, after 20 weeks, I started feeling better. The 2nd one, I was hospitalized several times for dehydration. I finally ended up on a pump with anti-nauseau medication (I couldn't keep the pills down). The last one, I started on the oral meds as soon as I started feeling nauseous and it worked. You might want to switch prenatal vitamins to see if a different type makes you less queasy. There are also wrist bands that do something with pressure points--I had a friend who said they worked for her. Good luck! I remember that time, it was awful. Fortunately, I worked with kids and was able to snack a lot (plus they kept me preoccupied, so I didn't have time to focus on being sick:))

I feel your pain!! I was so sick with all 3 of my pregnancies I could hardly move. The first trimester was the hardest. I also didn't find out until my 3rd pregnancy that having gallstones contributed to the problem. Anywho... I took a pill for about 2 months with my 2nd and it helped A LOT. But all 3 were different. the best thing I found was to eat as soon as you start to feel nauseous, and if your craving something.. get it. If it's worse in the morning try to keep crackers or something by the bed and eat a few before you get up. Drink tons of water!! I had to go to the hospital because I got dehydrated. (nothing would stay down) Good luck! I hope it helped.

With severe morning sickness you can get a prescription from your OB. I think it's called Zolfran? I might be completely wrong though. I took it occasionally when I was pregnant with my daughter because I had horrible motion sickness.

I've heard crackers are supposed to help... peppermint and ginger too. I know this will sound weird, but I frequent this sushi place and made friends with a waitress. She had horrible morning sickness and swore by the ginger. She didn't eat it, she just put it in a container and smelled it when she wasn't feeling well. The smell helped her a lot.

Hi!

When I was pregnant with both my boys I ate alot of crackers. I was one that had to keep something in my tummy at all times...that is what helped me with the nausea. A friend of mine was throwing up night and day. Her husband bought Preggie Pops for Moms at babies `r us and she said they worked pretty good. Just a thought...

When I went through the morning sickness time, a woman who worked in the OB unit at the nearby hospital gave me a hint. She said to keep a glass of Apricot Nectar nearby and sip it. My first thought was 'No.. it's thick. Just looking at it will make me barf!' But, it got so bad that I tried it. What a difference! It really did help! Now, everyone who I tell this to, has the same reaction as I did, and they are afraid to try it. But if you are sick enough...! You'll find it in the juice aisle at the grocery store. It comes in a can, like pineapple juice.

Also, I saw someone mention the wrist bands. I have heard several friends mention them working. They are miraculous for motion sickness! You'll find those at Walgreens with the motion sickness meds. If you are near Florissant, I've seen them at O'Donnell Pharmacy, up on Lindberg too.

Don't know if this was already mentioned..but ginger is supposed to help with nauseousness. Taking it in powder form is gross. I found ginger pills at a health food store. I would take one when I was feeling the sickness come on and it helped me.

I was sick the whole nine months with my first one. It was definiately worse for the first couple of months but it never went away completely. I learned that if I kept food in my stomach at ALL times, it wasn't so bad. I wonder now if I had low blood sugar problems and just didn't know it. I had to eat something small every 2-3 hours on top of regular meals. Fruits (canned and fresh), crackers, and nuts worked best for me. I also figured out that the computer made it worse. If you work on computers everyday, it is hard but you might try avoiding the computer for a couple of days and see if that helps. Good luck! I feel for you.

I didn't read through all the posts, so I don't know if I am repeating what enyone else said. I am 11 weeks and am just now starting to get over the 24-hour sickness. The things that helped me a LOT were the wristbands, along with eating crystalized ginger (can be found at walmart). One thing that also might help is you need to bring up your protien intake. I drink a high protien body-builder drink (52 grams protien/8 oz) called Body Fortress Whey Protien. I mix it with some milk, then add ice cream for a shake...Don't forget to keep taking your prenatal vitamins and a B complex vitamin might help also....I hope this helps...

I second the ginger root capsules. I found them at GNC and also WalMart. I would take them every 4 hrs it seemed and the nausea was extremely better. If I let the time get away from me and forget to take the pills, I would get very nauseaus again and then it would take 1-2 hrs for it to go away. I also have friends who swear by the pressure point wrist bands. Good Luck!

There are many home remedies out there and stuff your doctor can prescribe...with my first pregnancy I was sick all the time also and had a boss that didn't care one ioda. But suddenly on the 13th week it all stopped, miraculously. If it doesn't then your doctor can help or check the web. Bran muffins and caffine free Dr. Pepper worked for me for a while and lessened the blow until that 13th week. Good luck and say some prayers.
