Shrinking Thighs

What is the best way to shrink my thighs?? I work out 5-6 days a week. I do cardio, usually running, 30-45 minutes (depending on the day) and then do strength training, alternating upper and lower body. I know cardio is burning the fat but would it be more effective to do cardio longer or to keep the strength training?

What can I do next?

Hi D.. Thighs... a problem to many of us. I know that when I cut out lots of the carbs... my legs look a lot like they shrink. I was told this is one way to thin the thighs.
I love carbs..and so I have a constant battle.

I think it depends on the type of strength training you are doing. Some exercises build up bulk other build lean muscle.

How about changing your diet? How are your eating habits? When you are trying to lose weight, what you put in your mouth is probably 80% of the challenge! I disagree with the people that say to back off on the squats and stuff. Unless you are genetically 'gifted' and can build huge muscles, strength training is going to help you, not hurt you. I say keep up the cardio and strength training, and adjust your diet.

D.,
Some of what you are doing may actually be building your thighs, especially the strength training. Try doing cardio every other day, preferably running and not the stair or precor machines if you can handle it. Then the other days do the weight training. Beware the lunges and squats. Do MORE reps, lesser weights. this works for me.

Hi D.,
Two things: there is a program on PBS at 7:30 am called Classic Stretch and will lengthen the thigh muscles, not bulk them up; and are you using your Mary Kay Cellu-
Shape day and night? It takes a good half inch off each thigh AND really firms the skin. (I am also in MK and LOVE this product).

Welcome to the military. It is a great life!!

WHen you are doing strength training, you need to use low weights with a high amount of reps to get more definition instead of size. I.e. 30 reps of 25 lbs. Good luck.

HI D.,

Maybe switching up your cardio...your body gets used to the same workout...you need to "shock it" by switching it up..maybe try biking a couple days...def. keep up the strength training...there are a lot of inner thigh exercises that you can use to target the muscle...when you strength train, you will continue to burn calories thru out the day, cardio burns calories during the work out and a couple hours after...you are right to do both...sounds like you are doing a great job...I think just switching your routine up, will get you faster results..

There is a great website that might be helpful to you.

Good Luck

I hate to tell you this but the running can make your thighs bigger as you build muscle. Also working out can do the same. My duaghter is very small and when she started working out at the gym her thighs got larger. Not fat, just all muscle....
