Showing at Two Months?

This is my second and I'm already showing! I'm hoping that this doesn't mean I will gain lots of weight and get really big. Is this normal? It just seems like my ab muscles aren't as tight as they were when I was pregnant the first time around.

What can I do next?

At about two months, I felt like my pants didn't fit right anymore. It's not that I couldn't get into them- they just felt really uncomfortable. I started wearing dresses at that point (usually pretty form-fitting ones) and started getting comments from co-workers right away about me already showing.

I did get really big (by the end of the eighth month I was bigger than I should have been at full-term) BUT - and here is the big BUT- it is because I let all restraint go and ate a TON especially for emotional reasons.

So even though you're showing early, it doesn't mean you're going to be huge as a house later on- just don't do what I did. When you're "eating for two" remember that one of you is really really little :) If you follow a healthy eating plan and stick with a safe exercise routine, you (hopefully) won't become a beached whale like I did.

You body is still stretched out from the first pregnancy. They say each pregnancy is completely different, and as far as I can tell they ain't whistling dixie. I am pregnant with my 2nd now too and I started showing at around 12 weeks. With my first I didn't show until I was 6 months. Its normal for most moms with more then one child. I have actually gained less weight with this one but look a lot bigger then with my first.

My kids are 25 months apart and I thought I was showing as well but nobody else could really tell. I'm on the heavy side though but I heard the second time around and after you show quicker.

Abbey,

It really depends on the woman as far as showing - and it does not mean you will gain more weight. Each pregnancy is different (I've had five). I have a friend that shows IMMEDIATELY - we are pretty sure she is having #7. Since your first child is only one - it may just be that your body says - "Hey, I know what is going on and we'll just go back to what we were doing a year ago." It doesn't even mean that it will happen next time around if you go there and if they are further apart. Congratulations!

i wasn't quite 2 months along when i started showing with my second. it's because all your muscles have already been stretched once, so they aren't as tight as they were the first time. It's no indication on how much weight you'll gain don't worry.

This is totally normal, and you're right, if you've already had a previous pregnancy, your muscles aren't the same as before. Especially if you're not into exercises that center on core muscles.

But you should know that carrying big now, does not necessarily mean you will gain abnormal or unusual amounts of weight or appear to look bigger with this pregnancy. Though medically speaking, most subsequent pregnancies tend to be bigger. See article on topic at:

http://www.gurgle.com/articles/Another_Baby/22447/Are_sub...

I'd say don't worry about size. Worry about having a healthy baby. Eat healthy amounts of food that is expected for a pregnant person feeding two. Don't limit calorie intake out of fear of size. This is a growing problem among pregnant women.

I just saw a news program on Fox that tackled this growing problem Fox coined "pregorexia". There are actual people who develop anorexia during pregnancy (it actually has a medical name, but what that is, I don't know) and as a result are giving birth to low birth weight babies, babies with epilepsy, and other complications. Not to mention it causes problems for mom too, such as heart problems, bone loss, tooth loss, and hair loss because the baby will rob the mother of her nutrients in an attempt to survive.

With my second and my third I was showing at 9 weeks like it was 4 months along. The good news is that it stayed that way until I was 4 or 5 months, it didn't start getting bigger until around 6 months. I gained 30 with the second and 20 with the third, so don't worry, showing now isn't a big deal. You just have a little more room in there to stretch out than you did the first time around. Good luck.

Yes Ma'am - I did too! I was just as horrified too! I couldn't believe I already had to get my maternity clothes out :-( I hadn't actually lost all my weight from the first one (they're 22 months apart). I didn't eat the best either SO I did gain quite a bit (don't even want to give you the number) BUT after the hormones settled and I was done nursing my seconc I DID take it off. She's going on 4 now and I way less than I did the first time I got pregnant :-) I say - don't worry, just keep that baby healthy :-)

Yes, as embarrassing as it is, it is normal. I had the same problem my 2nd time around. I started wearing maternity clothes at 3 months! I didn't have a huge belly, but everything else was SUPER tight. In both of my pregnancies, I gained the same amount of weight and had the same size baby, but went into maternity clothes much faster the 2nd time around.

Other "joyous" things that may happen differently the 2nd time is you may not have very much "up" time. With my first, I felt great during all those in between months. But with my 2nd, I had about 1 month that I felt good. I slept worse, had more backaches/stiffness...I swore I would never get pregnant again. And here I am, now 3 years after my 2nd, and I am trying to get pregnant again. Why do we do it to ourselves? LOL

GOOD LUCK!

You got that right! LoL This time your body knows just what to do and just what to expect- right from the get-go =) Don't take it as a sign that you're going to gain lots of weight. Congrats!!!

Your muscles have been stretched from the first pregnancy so it is not abnormal to show sooner. This does not indicate that you will gain lots of weight.

I swear I was showing the day my test came back positive this time around! I'm now 31 weeks pregnant and am measuring a bit small. My co-worker just had her third child and she was showing at 8 weeks! She tried to hide it but she couldn't. She too ended up not very big in the end.

I showed right away with first daughter and started showing right away with this pregnancy as well. I'm also overweight so not suppose to show early, not suppose to feel baby movements early etc.. I showed early and felt baby at 13 weeks. So I say it depends on the person. I'm now 30weeks along and have gained 10-15 lbs but look enormous.

i was showing at two months. actually i have only gained 27 lbs so far and due in 7 days. this is actually the smallest at the end of the pregnancy i have been and its my 5th baby. just cause your showing now doesn't mean that you will gain alot of weight. expectally if you eat right and excerise then you will know if its baby weight or your weight that is going up. your ab muscles will stretch easier with each baby you have because they have already been stretched with your previous baby. good luck!

I am about to deliver my second, and had the same thing happen... With baby #1 I didn't show until month 4, and with the second was wearing maternity pants by month #2. I can say that with just a week to go, I am 4 pounds heavier than I was with my first. I think if you just watch your diet and exercise a couple times a week, you will be just fine. My OB-Gyn said that your uterus pops out quicker with successive pregnancies. Good luck to you and your upcoming arrival!

You definately show faster with subsequent babies. I swear with my second, I still had the pregnancy test in my hand when I looked down and saw my belly already! Nothing you can really do about it except try to hide it until you can tell everyone.

My sister is pregnant and had the same concern (she was convinced she was having twins). Her doctor told her that because this is her second baby her body knows what is happening and is just making room early because it knows it will need it eventually.

They say this happens with each pregnancy...you get bigger faster. With my 2nd, I had to tell people at exactly 12 weeks because I was starting to show already and needed maternity clothes already. Doesn't neccessarily mean you will gain lots of weight. I have a HUGE belly at 37 weeks and I haven't gained one pound...it's all baby and she's actually robbing from me, which my Dr. said was a good sign that the baby has a good hold over me and is in control over my body. I expect I'll be a tad lighter after I deliver then I was before I concieved. (That's the exception though.) but my point is, just because you show early doesn't mean you'll be carrying heavier than normal. :)
