Showering with Opposite Sex Parent
My daughter still showers with my husband most days. It's just easier to climb in with her, and I don't care much for bathing her. My husband loves it. The other night my dad reamed me about how it was WRONG WRONG WRONG! That she is too old to be showering with her opposite sex parent. We aren't uncomfortable with it, but I was wondering what you chica's think.

I heard a similar conversation on the radio the other day. Two male dj's were saying they each stopped showering with their dad at 5. I suppose by that age, it would be a good time to stop with either parent - same or opposite sex.
Good question!

She'll be three soon. NO problem. I agree with the comment that in a couple more years, maybe. My boy is 2.5, and he still showers with me. Also, I have 4 older sisters, and our dad bathed each of us until we were about four years old. No big deal. Besides, you are probably helping to promote a healthy attitude toward body image, instead of cloistering things away.

my daughter showered with my DH until she was 5 or 6 - I think it's fine at age 2 - your dad may have sexual issues, but if you and your DH don't, I wouldn't worry about it. I would give her the normal discussion about no one being allowed to touch her private parts, but parents helping her wash is normal at this age, in my opinion.

Sounds just fine to me. You will know when it is time to stop. I bathed with my son till he was six then we just knew he was getting too old and stopped. No big deal, he does not remember bathing with me any more than he remembers nursing, or who changed his diaper.

I think your fine. My daughter is 2 1/2 and she still showers with her daddy sometimes. Some people are just really up tight about that kind of stuff but I think you guys are doing nothing wrong. She is a little girl and you don't want to make her feel bad for wanting to do something so innocent as have fun bath time with daddy.

My DD did the same thing until she was 5...at that point I think she was just tall enough that it made her and DH uncomfortable.
I never really believed it until it happened so us, but kids do start developing their own natural modesty, usually near age 5. Until then a body is a body is a body to them. Sexual parts are no different than any other parts and hold the same amount of interest, which is to say zero.

I feel that she may be getting too old for it.
But that is how I was raised, with 2 big brothers and I was the only girl so I was taught early to have and get a little more privacy.
Just my opinion on the matter.
