Should I Get a Double Stroller or One That Comes with a Standing Plate, or None?
I am a stay at home mom of a 3 year old. I am pregnant with number 2 and am due in Aug. My 3 year old will be 3.6 when the baby is born. I need a new infant/travel system stroller and am unsure of whether to get a double stroller, or one that my 3.5 yr old can stand on or just a single. Any moms of that age range have advice? Will my 3.5 yr old still want to ride in a stroller when we are out at the mall? Thanks!

Mine are 2.9 years apart...
I found, my almost 3 year old really wanted to be "pushed" juts like the baby... before the baby, he could care less... but for about 6 months, it was definitly something I needed to make him feel "equal" to the baby.
I think the joovy sit & stand ultralite is the way to go... it is the same foot print as a single, and it pushes very easily. I would recommend it instead of the regular joovy.

I would definitly recommend a double stoller. You may go places that you don't want you older child walking around and need to make sure he stays seated. you can always let him out when you want to. but with the stand behind stroller I don't think you can keep him buckled in.

I found that when I had two young ones, I liked the double stroller. This way if I needed two hands for my infant, I could be sure that my older one was safe and secure.
Good luck

Don't get one with a stand up plate. Those are so hard to turn. I kept my single wearing my newborn. Then I got a double. Yes, it was wide but I knew my limitations with two children. I hope this helps.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Graco sit-n-stand!!! Sometimes my daughter, now 4 loves to walk along side but when she wants to sit she can. My youngest is 14 months and she's right in the front. The beauty of this stroller is that when no one is sitting in the back seat it's great for storage and Trust me, you always find something to put there. My only issue is with the basket area, which is in between the two seats, can be difficult to get to with both girls in it. I would say certainly go for it though as I have never liked another stroller better. We had a used peg perego but did not like the two seats facing the same way and as they grow they quickly outgrow the tiny seats! Hope this helps and you find something great for you guys.
Edited to say...You can also put a baby carseat in this model. The one in Target comes with an extra bar that slides in the front so you can remove it as need be. It adapts to fit A LOT of different baby seat models too!

My son was 3 when my second was born - i bought the double stroller (front to back) it was great because I could put the baby carrier in it and still have my older son in there. It was very convenient getting in and out of stores since it wasn't wide....it was bulky though. Around when my older son turned 4 we stopped using it as much....I went with the sit and stand - it is very convenient; however, you can't put a baby carrier in it AND have your older child sitting in the back portion - they would only be able to stand.....My older son really enjoyed the sit and stand - he used the little seat to sit sometimes as well as the platform to stand. So yes, we spent a lot of money on strollers but it was worth it to us to have the convenience we were looking for.

I think that if your 3 year old wants to ride with the baby then yo should get the stroller with a stander. I don't necessarily agree with a 3 year old in a stroller, but they may need to take a break now and again.
It's important that the 3 year old feel just as important and that they have a special place to stay too.
Just my opinion!

Hi, I have a 12 month old and a 2 1/2 year old. We initially bought the graco front to back Quattro tour double stoller which was great for the first year. But my now my 2 1/2 year old is all about walking. So we just bought a Joovy caboose ultralight(love it). It accomadates an infant carrier in the front if necessary and in the back the older child can stand or sit, and there is a 3 point harness to keep them sitting. So far we love it. It is so much lighter and easier to manuever than the bulky double. So I would say if your older child is over 3... go for a sit and stand model( it will be great to have just in case the older sibling gets tired).
Good luck
