Should Baby Be Visible on Ultrasound at 6 Weeks?
Hi Mamas!
I am coming up on my 6th week of pregnancy with #2! Yesterday I went in for my first appointment and they did an ultrasound. The tech saw the sac and everything else that's supposed to be there but couldn't see the baby yet. I didn't think much of it yesterday, but now I'm sitting here getting myself all worked up and worrying that something may be wrong. I'm right around 6 weeks - it's been 4 weeks since my LH surge (we used an ovulation test to conceive).
Has anyone had any experience with this who can offer me some peace of mind? I've been nauseated since Monday so that's a little reassuring, but just wondering if anyone else can confirm it's just too early to see the baby.
Please - I'd appreciate no doom and gloom. I'm trying to be positive. ;)
Thanks Mamas!

I'm sure you are fine!
By the end of week 6, your baby may be 1/6 to 1/4 inch (4 to 6 millimeters) long. That's not very big!!!!

Good luck!

I would think 6 weeks would be a little early to see much. When I had both my kids, my dr won't even do the first ultra sound untill about 10-11 weeks to make sure you can see it. Don't worry. I'm sure everything will be just fine. It's just a little early

Don't sweat it. It is reassuring if you are having pregnancy symptoms, but part of the reason they don't usually schedule that first ultrasound until closer to 8 weeks is because prior to that, the fetus is really difficult to detect.

Don't forget, babies are really tiny at 6 weeks! They don't always show up. If your doctor is worried, he will let you know. Don't buy troubles!
Relax, enjoy, and have a great pregnancy!

The same thing happened to me then they did blood work and said things were headed in the wrong direction and I would end up lossing the baby anyways so I should just get it taken care of. I waited and went to see another doctor and well today is her 15th birthday and we are headed to the spa to celebrate. Get a second opionion and lot's of prayer,

Don't worry - with my first baby I had an ultra sound at 5wks, 7wks and 10 wks (because of previous complications). They only saw the sac in week 5 and 7 and had to wait 'til wk 10 to know if the baby was "viable". My little one is now 4 years old, and they couldn't detect her right away. If there was a problem, the ultra sound technician would have brought a doctor in immediately to talk to you.
Sounds like your preggo hormones are getting to you and making you worry unnecessarily. Between that and your nausea, sounds like your hormones are multiplying. :)
I hope you have a happy, healthy pregnancy and try to relax! (easier said than done)
