First of all, i'd like to thank everyone who responded to the car seat issue, you were all a big help. It's the weekend so i really don't want to call the doctor over this issue but i would appreciate any advice i could get. In two days i will be 37 weeks, yea! As of two days ago i started to feel this insurmountable pressure in my lower pelvic region. Now it has turned to ALMOST unbearable pain with every step i take. I can't stand very long and it hurts to sit or lie down. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced the same problem. This is my first pregnancy and i'm a worry wart!

What can I do next?

I had the same pain, and it turned out to be my baby putting excess pressure on my nerves in that area. I guess it had something to do with the muscles relaxing too much and the baby being really low (it was in my final month too). Good luck!

Have you checked these pains with a watch? Are they coming every so many minutes?

Since you are having such severe pain, I would call the doctor, weekend or not, they should now about this and check you out.

God bless!

J., I had this problem after I delivered my fourth baby! It turned out I torn the cartilage in my pelvic bone. I could barley walk for four months. I hope it's not what you have but it sounds a lot like what I went through.

It does sound like labor pain...or it could be false labor. The only other thing I can think of is that the baby might be "dropping", which is a good thing, but can be painful (it was for me at least). I would call your docotr though, that's what they are there for and they would probably rather you call than let it go just in case. Good luck!!

Perhaps you are in early labor. Do you know how effaced you are? With my last pregnancy I walked around 100% effaced for over a week and the pain you described sounds exactly like what I went through. I think it all means that the baby will be here soon!

No matter what time it is, when in doubt, call your doc. That's what he/she is there for, and what they get paid for. They are used to being on-call at all times, especially OB's since you can't always plan when the baby comes.

I think I went to the hospital because of horrible pelvic pain 2 or 3 times during my pregnancy, that ended up just being the cartilage in my pelvis stretching, it certainly wasn't labor since my daughter didn't want to come out even at full term. I felt a little silly afterwards for making something out of nothing, but I felt so much better knowing they'd checked the baby and me out and everything was ok.
