Renew lotion from Melaleuca. My son has eczema and we use it and it helps a lot (it doesn't make his eczema disappear, but this is the best lotion out of what seems like hundreds of lotions that I have tried).

We're dealing w/it too - ugh.

Make sure the diet is balanced and contains Omega-3 fatty acids. You can buy them in supplement form.

Oatmeal baths

Unscented detergents - free and clear everything

We've tried several natural lotions. Aloe is supposed to work well, so that's what we're using now.

It's such a pain!! We're going to the ped tomorrow. I'll update if she mentions anything we missed. Good luck to you and DD.

My youngest son had severe eczema from the time we got home from the hospital until he was about 3. He is 5 now and still has flare-ups, but nothing like before. It was so stressful, he would itch so bad until he was bleeding. We went to many doctors and were told so many different things!!!!! I did not like the liquid steroids they gave him because after the patches cleared up they would come back worse and the liquid itching medicine they gave him made him very tired. We finally went to an allergist and found out he had allergies to milk, eggs, and peanuts. I really think it is something they grow out of. We had been through just about every cream and medicine you can imagine, but what worked for us was giving him a bath everyday and as soon as he got out of the bath while his skin was still damp we put Eucerin Calming Creme. This helped a lot and made his skin smooth. For really bad areas we did have to use a steroid cream, but I would only use a little bit. I used to hate when people would tell me just give it some time and it will get better and he will grow out of it, because it is hard seeing your child suffer. But, now that he is older it has got a lot better. To this day I still give him a bath daily and use the creme and we do not have many problems. I'm sure things will get better soon :)

my daughter got eczema from eating eggs or from me eating eggs. Could be something in her diet. Is it a food allergy? Benedryl helped a lot for severe itching episodes.

Hi it's me here the little eczema baby all grown up. I have eczema from time to time now but here is the best homeopathic cure. Go to the health food store or a homeopathic pharmacy and buy Natrium Muriaticum 6c or 12 c. Give it orally every day. When she has a breakout use it 4x a day for 5 days. Give two of the round pellets each time. When it is mild give one little round pellet by mouth daily for a month.
No cream on the body as the oozing sores can become infected from it. And it causes pain. Especially when the eczema bleeds.
When my eczema is really bad I urinate on it. I leave my urine on the open sores for a minute and then wash off in the shower.
I get it around my eyes when exposed to wind borne allergins. Often it only happens on my hands and ankles in cold weather.

My son's severe eczema (started about the same time as your daughter's) was due to food allergies. I strongly encourage you to talk to your doctor, explore the link between pediatric eczema and allergy (particularly dairy allergy) on the Internet, and to consider seeing an allergist. If it's a systemic problem, creams will only help so much. Good luck!

My son only has minor Exzema and we use Mustela Stelatopia cream. I used to work at babies r us and one of their sellers came and demonstrated everything for us! I have loved it ever since, but never bought any. Until I was told my son had eczema. I tried a few cheaper options first, but nothing worked. So I took a deep breath and shelled out the $19. Well my son's patches are almost gone!!! YAY!!!! And it's only been a week! So I suggest it.
I got it at Babies R us. Here is a link with other reviews on it.

My son suffered from eczema for 3 years. It was so bad that his legs would bleed from itching them at night. I read a study in time magazine where they cured a large percentage of kids' eczema by using bleach baths. I am a "natural everything" type of person and it kind of went against my normal way of thinking but I had tried everything and was at my wits end so I tried it. I swear to you my son's legs cleared up within a week or two and he has NEVER had problems with it again. His skin gets a little dry from time to time and we use cetaphil unscented lotion but other than that there are no visable traces of the excema anywhere. He is now 7 years old and hasn't had any issues in almost 2 years (knock wood). All you do is add 1/4 of a cup of bleach to half a bathtub full of water and have them soak in it for about 10-15 mins... give her a little rinse and pat dry gently... do it twice a week. Much cheaper than the tons of lotions I tried and way more effective :)

I can share what has helped my granddaughter!
Soapourri Soaps (www.soapourri.com) There is a listing here on Mamapedia. Cindy makes these wonderful soaps in her home and has had national recognition. They are the mildest soaps I have ever found. When I first found them the ease of pain for my toddler granddaughter was amazing. She would request baths to use her soap during times of bad flares.
I also recommend the "Butter Bar" Cindy makes. Very moisturizing and protective.
Burt's Bees has a wonderful honey and shea butter for the body (http://www.burtsbees.com/natural-products/body-moisturize...) I would lather this on my granddaughter after her bedtime bath and in the morning. Always do both. they need the moisture, healing properties and barrier this provides.
If I didn't use shea butters, I used vasoline.
Eucerin would make my granddaughter scream and I found Cetaphil too drying for her. Even Dove is too drying to use on eczema.
My granddaughter did have eczema everywhere. It started when she was a few weeks old. We still use this regime on her every day and she just turned 6.
And yes her clothes are wash with free and clear type detergents and no fabric softeners are used.
Since we discovered this regime (there was a lot of trying!) her breakouts are very few and far between and usually brought on by stress. Good luck!

Florasone Cream, by Boericke & Tafel -

All natural.
You can find it at Whole Foods or online like at Amazon.

It is for Eczema and itches.

Also, what she eats can make it worse.
For my Mom, Oats and Citrus, makes her Eczema flare up.

Hi there. I second the post on Derma-Smoothe after every bath. I also use on my girls Aveeno cream body wash and Aveeno body cream not lotion after every bath. I never use lotion. I also use an antihistamine when there is a flare up and extra Derma-Smoothe in between baths. One of the keys is to put on the oil and lotion while they are still damp. The sample you can usually get from your ped has a squirt bottle with it to help with the in-between bath days. I also make sure that my girls are not in the bath very long and completely rinsed off afterward.
Good luck!

Take her to a pediatric dermatologist.

NO kids body washes--just use Dove.

Unscented/dye free detergents/soaps, etc.

I get it really bad on my hands during winter--there is a hair product --Farouk Silk Therapy (like an oil) that takes the painful burning away from my hands.

Here's a testimonial you may be interested in - I have several more as well:

Eczema and Fungus -- Shaklee Baby Oil

A friend's baby was born with terrible eczema 6 months ago. The eczema covered his body from head to toe. It was so severe the mother could not take him out in public because the bleeding and appearance was so unsightly. I convinced her to stop using all the prescription and non-prescription products given her by a handful of specialists and to try the Shaklee Baby oil. It had helped my daughter tremendously with the fungus from Candida on her feet, so why not try it with this little guy. She called me TWO DAYS LATER, crying and telling me I had to come over. Well, the little boy looked picture perfect. His skin was like ivory only with a perfect pink tinge to his cheeks and all the bleeding and other scabbing was 3/4 healed on all of his body. This was truly a miracle to see and such an incredible "high" for me. Baby sleeping and happy; and mother sleeping and happy. If you know of someone suffering from this skin problem,, Ask them to try the baby oil and see what may happen. ~ Karen

You can get more info at 'my business' listed on my profile page. Sure do hope it helps!

PS You may also want to consider using their laundry and cleaning products.

Ezcema is systemic. That means it comes from the inside out. Something has broken down your little one's immune system. There are several things that can help. As soon is she is able to take a chewable vitamin she needs to be on an absorbable one. Not all vitamins are the same. Some are dangerous so know what you are giving her.

Also toxins in the system will exacerbate ezcema. Toxic laundry detergents, soaps (even dove and cetaphil are not good) absorb into the skin. What you use in the house, from your bath and body products to your cleaning supplies can be bad. Even the perfume you wear that she lays against can create havoc in an immune system. Detoxing your home would be a great first step. It was cheap and easy the way I did it. Let me know if you want me to walk you through it.

Renew lotion is the only lotion I have EVER seen good results from. It does heal. My 92 year old Dad's psoriasis is completely gone...Let me know if you'd like some info.

God bless,

M.

My son is 19 months old, & has had eczema since birth. We did the fragrance-free lotions, baby washes, & detergents for him; along with the doctor prescribing 2.5% hydrocortisone. It all worked "ok", but none of it really did a "good" or "great" job. Then, the pediatrician prescribed our lifesaver- Derma-Smoothe. It's a body oil that's put on after bathtime, and works like a DREAM!!! I asked his doctor what took her so long to prescribe it, and she said that she never prescribes it as a first resort. Further, it can't be prescribed to babies unless they are over 6 months old.

Ask your ped about it :-)
