Septum?

So, I had a miscarriage in Feb and another last week. This miscarriage they claimed was due to a septum on my uterus. I already have one child and somehow he managed to not attach to the septum and I carried him full term. My doc is recommending an ultrasound to see if there is indeed a septum. Anyone have anything like this happen to them?

What can I do next?

No, but I would suggest you get on the internet and check out all you can...........then do what you think is best.......if you don't think this doctor knows what he is talking about, then find another one for a second opinion.....remember, this is your body and you're in control, so learn as much as you can and then armed with knowledge, you can ask great questions to decide what you think is the best thing for you.

Good Luck and hang in there.....take care.

I have a severe septate uterus but did manage to have one (so far) viable pregnancy. Definetly get the ultrasound and maybe consider a MRI as it would be more detailed and show more precisely what you have. There are several different kinds of uterine abnormalities called mullerian anomalies. Some severe and some not so much. Many, many women have this and a lot of the time it goes unnoticed and they have no idea. Women who do have this usually don't have issues getting pregnant it's the staying pregnant part that can be difficult. Feel free to private message me.

I also have a septum. I did have one miscarriage but it was due to chromosomal issues not the septum. I also went on to carry two full term babies plus a set of twins with no problem. I would definitely get it checked out though - they did a saline ultrasound (where they inject saline into the uterus and watch on an ultrasound machine) to determine mine, but the doctor felt that by trying to remove it, it would probably end up causing more scar tissue which would cause a greater chance of infertility. Mine is very small though, so it would probably depend on how large it is I would think. Good luck!!

My sister has a septum in her uterus. She and her husband tried for quite a while to get pregnant. They had just found out about the septum and were looking into removing it when she got pregnant with my nephew (he's 1-1/2 now). She had a miscarriage this past January (not sure exactly why). She's pregnant again now - about 3 months.
Good luck!
