Selling Breastmilk

Has anyone heard of selling breastmilk?

What can I do next?

I would recommend going through a reputable organization if you're going to buy, sell or donate breastmilk because there are some serious health implications of feeding a baby someone else's breastmilk. For example, HIV can be transmitted to a baby via breastmilk. I would just be very careful and do plenty of research!

A.,

I haven't heard of selling your breast milk, but there is such a thing as breast milk donation.

You can go to www.breastmilkproject.org for more information.

Thanks!

I have heard of selling breastmilk. My friends and I were talking about it, but I don't know how you would go about doing this. try to find a milk bank in your area or you could put an add in the paper. People will pay good money for it I think like $3 on ounce. I am not sure about this all these are just things my friends and I were talking about. you can look it up maybe by googling it. Good luck!

Yes, usually scams! If you want to donate or receive milk, let me know....I am an adoptive mom and know a lot about it!
www.milkshare.com has info too.
If you are in St. Louis my adopted daughter was preemie and has an immune condition and needs milk, so contact me if you have milk to donate. ____@____.com
Thanks!

yes, I have heard of this. What I've heard is that they really want milk that is no older then 6 months and milk from mommies who do not take prescription drugs. If you want to go to the LLL website and check it out there, lots of good info on that website.

I too have heard of the donation thing. The only thing I have ever heard on selling it was once on an CSI show. I think the donation thing is a wonderful gift if a person could do it.

I have never heard of this. If you can donate it it is a great idea to. Most NICU's (Neonatal Intensive Care Units) will use it with preemies. I would check into this.

AS a nurse, I think that, that is scary. I mean, if the mom who is donating the breast milk doesn't have 101% health, no medications, or any other problems, it can cause problems.
