there is a great website for volunteer work called dosomething.org - you can search volunteer work needed in your area and I'm sure you can contact the organization your are interested in helping to ask about bringing your child. It's wonderful that you want to do something to help others with your child! What a great thing to learn about at an early age.

I work for a theater company that is ALWAYS looking for volunteers to help with events, marketing, publicity, web-design, photography, costume design, stage management, office work, etc. I often bring my one-year old to work with me and it is completely acceptable--very laid back with child freindly people! Many of our events are local and as a volunteer you get free admission!

I volunteer at a local Crisis Pregnancy Center on their cleaning team, and have done so ever since my baby turned one (he's now two). I just feed him breakfast in his stroller while I clean, and I'm done by the time he's impatient to get down. It works beautifully!
