Seeking Vanderbilt Pediatrician

I would highly recommend Dr. Rachel Mace and those in her group: Dr. Steigelfest, Dr. Huss, and Dr. Rothman- my daughter sees Dr. Mace but has seen Dr. Steigelfest and Dr. Huss when Dr. Mace was out- it is not that Dr. Mace is out a lot but that my daughter goes to the pediatrician a lot because she has a rare medical condition. I found Dr. Huss and Dr. Steigelfest to be great doctors too. I spoke to Dr. Rothman once in an emergency on the weekend, and she was really helpful too. Dr. Mace has been a great doctor for my daughter. And the nurses and office staff at their offices are so friendly and helpful, and they have always gotten my daughter in that day if she needed to be seen even when she got sick in the middle of the day. My daughter sees a lot of specialists at Vanderbilt, and nearly all of them have commented on how much they like Dr. Mace and think she is a great pediatrician when they find out she is my daughter's pediatrician. That speaks a lot for her in my opinion.

Dr. Mace and her group are at University Pediatrics which is on the 5th floor of the Medical Arts Building at the Medical Center. Their number is ###-###-####. My obstrician recommended Dr. Mace to me, and I was able make an appointment to meet her before I chose her as my daughter's pediatrician- so you may want to do that. I thought I would try out other doctors this way too, but after I met Dr. Mace, I felt that I could be sure that she would do an excellent job for my daughter, and that was before she was born and before I knew that she would have special needs. I cannot tell you how much extra time Dr. Mace has put in providing the best care for my daughter, and I always know that she really cares about her.

Good luck choosing a pediatrician. And welcome to the area. As for preschools, my daughter attends Susan Gray School at Vanderbilt's education school, and she loves it. It is an excellent school with kids with special needs and normally developing children mixed in classrooms. Their number is ###-###-####. Frank Haraf at Green Hills Children's Clinic is wonderful!

My husband's insurance is through Vanderbilt too. Centennial Pediatrics takes Vandy insurance. We have been very happy with Gabriella Morel at the Brentwood office on Franklin road. Also, have you looked into the Vanderbilt daycare? They have an excellent reputation. My son is on the waiting list.

I would HIGHLY recommend Pediatric Associates of Franklin. They have recently moved to Brentwood just behind Walgreen's at the corner of Moores Lane East & Bakers Bridge Road. We see Dr. Couden who is incredible, but have also seen Drs. Townsend, Brooks and Chambers in that practice and have had NO complaints and have been extremely impressed with their practice. I am in the medical field so I have always held my doctors to a higher standard than most people probably do. I would recommend them without any reservation. THey have evening and weekend hours for emergencies and a nurse line that are all very helpful as well. I believe the entire practice has privileges at Vandy. I am a Vandy employee and they accept my insurance.

Dr. Godfrey at Green Hills Pediatric Associates is a wonderful pediatrician! GHPA pediatricians are associated with Vanderbilt. ###-###-####

Green Hills Childrens Clinic is an excellent pediatric practice that is affiliated with vanderbilt. I used to work for them as well as have my daughter as a patient. I suggest Dr. Haraf or Dr. Shull depending on if you would like male or female. Dr. Haraf is one of the bext pediatricians in Nashville in my opinion. I love him! Their number is ###-###-####.
