Seeking Therapist for PPD in SW Littleton Area
I just had my 3rd little girl and I think I have post pardum depression. I didn't have it with my first 2 pregnancies, but am noticing it a lot lately now. My husband can't seem to understand why I'm acting this way and its making things very tense around our house. I just can't get out of this funk! Does anyone know of a good therapist in the Littleton area? Thanks!

I talked to a therapist named Robin Martinez after I had my baby almost three years ago. She is so wonderful. She will come to your house, so you don't have to deal with finding childcare if that is an issue for you. She's the kind of person you feel you've known all your life after just talking to her for a minute. Her contact info three years ago was: ###-###-####, ____@____.com. Hopefully it hasn't changed. Also, I have tons of experience with depression, both personally and with my family, so if you just need someone to talk to, feel free to email me. I'm pretty good at lending the listening ear - though I know it might be wierd to talk to a total stranger! But I know how hard it is. It's definitely nothing to take lightly, so you're doing the right thing seeking help.
Take care.

Hi J.,
I would start out with your Primary Doctor First. Also try Vitamin Cottage. They can direct you in the right way with natural Vitamin.

I would recommend Dr. DeWeese at Southwest Counseling Associates (http://www.southwestcounseling.org/). I would NOT recommend starting with your primary care doc, as they are not trained in treating mental health. Vitamins also won't help you in the way that a qualified therapist can. A therapist can help figure out if PPD is what's going on, can help you give you solutions, and can give you the support you need right now.

It's so nice to hear that you want someone to talk to as opposed to going straight for the meds! This can be a hard time and this is a serious matter. Definately talk with your OB right away and they can reccomend someone. Make it clear you want to talk to a counselor and NOT be medicated. Apparantly this is a trend, to just medicate as opposed to dealing with the issues.Your hormones are definately on high right now with your recent delivery. You could also be very stressed out, three under 5 is ALOT of work, and on top of it you are probably not getting much sleep! Good luck to you!
