Does anybody have any recommendations for a mommy-and-me type swim class for toddlers in the Puyallup area? Thank you.

So What Happened?

Thank you all for all of your suggestions. It sounds like the YMCA is going to be a great option for us... for swimming and lots of other fun activities too. We have finally made our move, and once we are settled into our house, I plan on heading down to the YMCA to sign up!

Mel Korum YMCA (on South Hill) does have family swim classes. The classes can get full, so look into it early. Also, the Y has a toddler pool with designated free-swim times almost everyday.

I am in a swim class at the Y here in Tacoma. They have a wonderful class, not sure if there is one in Puyallup though.

I live in Puyallup and had the same dilema and didn't want to pay the fees for the YMCA so I found that driving a little to save a little money on start up fees was worth it. I take my daughter to the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. It's very easy to get too and the pool is AWESOME!!!! So is the teacher. The classes are for 5-weeks and you go twice a week. Most of the other places around here (Fife Community Center, YMCA, etc) want you to take their classes 4-days a week for 2 weeks. I don't have that kind of time and I don't think my daughter would have enjoyed her lessons if it were almost everyday. Also, the pool is so cool. It has a pirate ship in the middle of the pool and it's a wadding pool and slowly lets you get deeper and it's pretty cheap ($47 for 10 classes).

I hope this helps.

We recently moved from St Louis and were looking for swim lessons for our little ones. We live in University Place(not too far away from Puyallup) and searched around but didn't have much luck. We ended up joining the YMCA. If you join, your kids can do swim lessons, as well as, other age appropriate activities. It has been great for us!

M. C, My name is B.. I live in Bonney Lake (Sumner,WA). There is a pool in Sumner at the High School. I'm sure Puyallup has a pool. There is also a YMCA in Puyallup. Don't know what classes they offer, but that is a start. Hope you like the area. I've been here (from Michigan) for over 20yrs. Love it! B. S.

Puyallup High School had something like that when my oldest was taking lessons there (about a year ago). You could proably email ____@____.com and ask for a schedule/more information on their swim program.

Definitely check the YMCA. The one in Puyallup is the Mel Korum YMCA. Some of the HS pools in the area also offer swim lessons. You might want to check Rogers HS website. The benefit to the YMCA is they also offer Toddler playgroups and group sports activities all included in the monthly membership fees.

I think the YMCA has a program like that...at least they used too. Also call the Rogers High School Swimming Pool and see if they offer a class like that.
