I have been exclusively breastfeeding and soon will be returning to work and my 11 week old baby girl has refused to take the bottle. Help! I previously nursed my son and used Dr. Brown's bottles and had no troubles but my little girl is just not having it. I wanted to know if there was an alternate bottle that worked for other moms that have had the same trouble. I was thinking of trying soothie since that is the brand of pacifiers the hospitals give the babies but hoping for some expert advice from other moms

I never gave my son a bottle, but daycare did and I bought Mam bottles and also had the Evenflo...daycare loved the Mam's and that's all we started using, we also used their pacifiers. I ordered them online.

My breastfed baby took Playtex drop-ins with Naturalatch nipples (wide mouthed and silicone) without any problems.

You may be able to get her to take the bottle by switching bottles, my daughter was one of those kids that just wouldn't take the bottle no matter what. Her Pedi. said that it might just take a day or 2 of you not being around and then she will take the bottle, she won't starve in those few days even if she refuses the bottle and waits to nurse until you get home.

I had planned to breast feed so we purchased the breast flow bottle system. My son never latched on correctly. After a couple days with the breast flow I was able to get him on occassion to latch on with a breast shield, on occassion. But my production was never the greatest, and he'd only latch on maybe once a day so I gave up. The bottles are harder to clean than most because of the dual nipple design, but they're supposed to be the best. I found them at Babies 'R Us. I'd give them a try.

I used the NUK bottles for my breastfed babies. These were the only ones they would use.

Hi S.:

My son could never get te hang of the Dr Brown's bottle either. I really think that it is to small of a nipple area for a breasfed baby. I switched to the playtex drop ins and they worked like a charm. Plus, they are cheap and easy to clean.

All the best,
A.

have someone other than you feed her in a quiet setting. Also it is best to start out with breast milk in the bottle.

Hi S..
I just went back to work today and I am pumping. We use the playtex drop ins with the slow flow nipple and my son has no problems. Good luck!
