I am hoping to find a great group of kids that my kids can get to know. Does anyone know of any "playgroups" in Rio Rancho or the westside? We just started home schooling this month and my kids are really missing their friends. I have an 8 year old girl, a 6 year old boy and a 3 year old boy. As with everyone we have very busy schedules but I know that is it very important that we find a way to get the kids out with friends. Any information is most appreciated.

My daughter is just a toddler but my nieces and nephews were home schooled in Albuquerque for a while (their dad was transfered to FL in military recently). Here is the one local resource site that I'm familiar with: http://www.abqhomelearners.org/

It has lots of great ideas for kids of all ages and I'm sure you can meet some like minded groups to enjoy here too. I sure look forward to home schooling my little ones!

There is a homeschool park day every Tuesday at 1pm at the park next to the Taylor Ranch Library(at Montano and Unser). I used to attend every week, the kids and parents are really nice. When the weather is warmer it is earlier in the day. Now that it is cool and is later in the day I can't make it because of my little ones. I will be going again once the time changes again when the weather warms.

There are lots of resources. This is a great homeschooling state. In addition to the co-op already listed, there is a very casual one at http://abqhomeschool.com/
They have east and west side park days.

Also, get on this email list. It's amazing how much goes out on various homeschool activities in this state.

Good luck and have fun!

I don't homeschool my kids, but I know my church has a homeschool group that gets together. You may want to find out more information if you're intersted. It's Calvary Chapel Rio Rancho. It may help your kids if they get to know other homeschooled kids too. Good luck.

Hi,
I have just started homeschooling this year as well. I have a 5 1/2 yr old boy and a 3 yr old girl. There are many home school groups located at churches. I run a traditional world art class at my home church every other friday. It is very relaxed and most people have exactly your childrens ages. We will meet next friday. Give me a call if interested, we would love to have you try it out. Also I have just started looking for a gym for my daughter. Do you take your children to Gymnastics in Rio Rancho and if so where?
