Seeking Skin Care Products for Baby with Skin Allergy

My adorable one year-old has had skin allergy to products with fragrancies since she was 3 monthes old. We use Aveeno, wash & lotion, and love it, we also have a standing prescription for hydrocordizone. It works and does not break her out, but with summer fast aproaching I need a good sunscreen and bugspray. Hypo-allerginic and Fragrance Free! Cost at this point does not matter, she got bitten by mosquitos this weekend and her leg swelled so bad, we may need a prescription for it but if ya'll have any suggestion before we call our doc that would be great.
Help, Help, Help!

What can I do next?

My little girls have the same problem. We generally use the Off Skintastic fragrance free. It is also DEET free as well so there is no skin iritation. Unfortunately the only sunscreen we have were able to use was prescription stuff. Luckily their skin has gotten better so no we use the water babies aresol. it goes on light and stays well. Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi! E. maybe avon! has a line of skin so soft for babies. also a friend sent me a email the other day, about putting LISTERINE! in a spray bottle and spray around deck or sitting area. to keep mosqitoes away.I not tryed it yet, but going to. hope this helps. oh! it might not be good for tender little feet to walk through.good luck, congrats on going back to school, S..

Stick with what you know. Aveeno makes a great sunscreen and it comes in a kids version. I use the grown-up kind for me and the kids version for my 15 month old son.

I would try skin so soft by avon. I am very allergic to bug sprays and theirs doesn't make me break out. They have a sun screen with bug spray in it and it works very well.

Hi E.! If you have not already heard from a hundred Arbonne Consultants, I would love to hook you up with a sample of our baby line...specially formulated as you have detailed. Please let me know and I'll get them to you ASAP. Check-out my website at www.laurelskin.myarbonne.com but don't shop until we talk so that I can give you a discount!

I use diapers.com for many of my very sensitive (severe eczema) 7 month old's skin/bath products. There green baby section has all natural, hypoallergenic products. The page that I have linked below goes directly to all sunscreens, but there are the all natural ones, familiar store sunscreens, and sensitive skin formulas. Good luck and I hope this helps!

Aveeno baby sunscreen will work since that already helps your child. I am not sure about the bugspray.

Something I do is go to www.ewg.org and check the ingredients on products. This helps me make decisions on what to use in my home, especially with body care.

For my son I use Neways Generations because it has no toxins, no perfumes or fragrances at all so very little chance of allergic reaction for his bath products.

As for sun and bug repellants I suggest trying to go with essential oils so you can create your own. There are recipes online and books you can get from the library to help finding the right mixture for your needs. Essential oils can get pricey but I think they are well worth it.

Hi...I'm usually long winded, but all I have to say is:

Arbonne has awesome baby products that are COMPLETELY non allergenic.

Clinique also has a physical sun-block for super sensitive skin.

My daughter is in the same boat! We have always had success with the NoAD brand of sunscreen. I don't think it says fragrence free or hypoallergenic, etc., but for some reason it is the only sunscreen she can tolerate every day in the summer. Now that she is older, she can tolerate other mild sunscreens as long as we shower them off that night. But the NOAD brand has always worked for us. Good luck!
