I would love to hear your experience with any of the following schools:

-GPS Traditional Academy (Neely)
-Edu-Prize
-Polytechnic Elementary (University Public Schools)
-Islands Elementary

These are the schools my husband and I are considering for our two children. We are looking for a school to not only challenge them academically, but also inspire them to want to learn. We want our children to be motivated for success and have the resources to get them there. Which school would you recommend?

Thanks!

Thank you all for your input on the schools. Your feedback, along with some more research, has given me a better idea of my priorities for my kids in education. I'm favoring Polytechnic and Edu-Prize at this point. Thanks again!

Mu chldren are at Edu-prize and We are very happy. My 2 boys go there and they are able to deal with the differenceses , with one being too smart and one being smart but at his own pace.
YOu will need to get on the waiting list NOW. they already had reg. for Kg. It is not easy to get in. THey give parent tours as well, just call. After trying private schols, looking at public schools we have been blessed to be at Edu-prize for 3 years and will stay until my next son is done. Good luck

Hi Clarissa!

Check out www.greatschools.com for parent reviews on individual schools. This site also has test scores, class sizes, ethnic makeup..... Such a great resource for those interested in which school to place their kids. At least in AZ, we have lots of choices! Good luck:-)

My son attends Polytechnic Elementary and he loves it. He was in the Kyrene district prior to this year. I also really like it. They have individual learning plans, so each child is learning at their own rate. They cluster the grades (1/2, 3/4, 5/6) so that the kids can move back and forth between grades as needed to fulfill their ILP's. Parents are encouraged to be very involved. They integrate the curriculum in to several areas; ie: what they learn about in math they also read about in reading, they sing about in music, etc. They get PE and Spanish every day and next year will also get Music everyday, which is very important to young minds. They also offer a variety of afterschool programs and Club Poly if you need before/after school care. My son is challenged and the teachers really care about their kids. The teachers even get on going training and learning all year. Good luck choosing a school.

I went to an orientation for EduPrize and I was very impressed. I have walked around the school and been in the classroom and they definately inspire children to learn and they use a lot of creativity. My children already started at our local public school and have made friends there, but if I had to start over, I would choose EduPrize. I am a teacher also and I like their philosophy of teaching. Neely teaches 1 grade level higher, but it is all worksheets and back to basics, which I find boring and kids are not that stimulated as well. I have a good friend that has a son there.

My children have been to both GPS Traditional Neely and Eduprize. We moved from Gilbert to Johnson Ranch out in Queen Creek that was our reason for the switch of schools. If I had my choice in schools, I would go back to GPS. Although I really love Eduprize, I liked GPS much more, I loved their curriculum and how they taught the Spalding Method and did Saxton Math. I loved GPS music program and how it was very patriotic, I loved how the teachers and faculty really challenged the kids there and they expected excellence. At the time my kids were attending there it was an Excelling school (3 years ago). As for Eduprize, I believe it is as well an Excelling School and teaches Saxton Math, the school out in Q.C. isn't run EXACTLY like the Eduprize in Gilbert, but I am sure that is due to it being a new school out here. It is a science based school and has A LOT of hands on activities for the kids to do Ex. my daughter in 3rd grade dissected an owl pellet and then glued the bones that were found in the pellet back together, she loved that. The parents are required to volunteer their time. 80 hours/yr.per family. It is very parent involved. Although my kids do bring up GPS Neely every now and then and say how they miss it, they do enjoy Eduprize as well. Hope this helps, good luck with your decision.
