Seeking Recommendations for Local Preschools, Not Daycares, in Barberton/Akron

I am looking for recommendations on preschools for my daughter for this fall. I am not looking for daycare, but preschools in the Barberton, Akron, Coventry, or close proximities. Any suggestions for referrals would be greatly appreciated as this is my only child and I am new at this and don't know quite where to start, but as you all do, want what is best for her.

What can I do next?

I homeschooled my son for the first three years, (because I'm very picky, want the best, and couldn't find anywhere that I approved of) but then I found the Spring Garden Waldorf School. He started there this school year, and LOVES IT! It's in Copley, on Jacoby Rd. It's a wonderful school, and the website is www.sgws.com. They begin with preschool, and go to eighth grade. I highly recommend you check it out. They are having an open house on April 6th, from 1 to 3 pm, if you want to go see what it's all about. Good luck! (I run a drop-in daycare in Wadsworth, and we have a preschool, also, so I have lots of experience with children and their development.)

I know that in the Coventry Local School district they have a preschool class. The teacher is amazing, her name is Kathy Everhard. I student taught with her and she really is everything you could imagine and more for a preschool teacher. She will love your child and provide her with experiences beyond your belief! She transforms the classroom into things such as Hawaii, and the grocery store just to name a couple. They get to learn through play and hands-on experiences. I'm not sure if you live in this district, but I would HIGHLY reccommend the program!

If you are looking for a christian based preschool I would highly recomend Hope Preschool. It is affiliated with Hope United Methodist Church. It is located on Corey Avenue in Akron (right off Waterloo Road). They currently run a program from 9:00-11:30. They may also have afternoon classes next fall as they do if the need is there. They have an outdoor playground, music class, they teach the fundamentals of letters, numbers, small and large motor skills as well as socialization skills and so on....
I am a parent helper as well as a sub teacher there. Both of my boys have really thrived from their program. It is a no frill place with lots of love and fun!

Check out the Goddard School. The closest one for you would probably be Akron/Fairlawn

Childcare Connection :###-###-####. They are a resource & referral program located in Akron that serves all of Summit & Medina Counties. They should have lists of preschools in your area. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
