Seeking Recommendations for a Reproductive Office/donor Eggs
Dear Ladies,
I need your advice very much. I badly want a baby but I’m already 43. After in vitro failure I decided to try donor eggs. Our insurance doesn’t cover it and a reproductive office in Kansas City will charge $20,000.00 for the whole process. We probably can’t afford it. Do any of you know of another office that would charge less (not necessary in Kansas City area)?
Thanks in advance to all of you!
So What Happened?™
Thanks for the quick replies. I'm thinking about adoption in case an attempt with donor eggs fails. I can't try surrogacy because I can't produce enouph eggs any more :(. As far as I understood a reproductive office would seek for a donor for me. I didn't know I could do it myself.

what about adoption or surrogacy? are you unable to get pregnant on your own?

Were you trying to find the donor through the KC office? Look at http://www.surromomsonline.com
You can find donors on there, match independently and go that route.
I've done two surrogacy journeys and while I don't know what you're going through, I've been close to two women who have gone through it and are now holding their beautiful little ones. If you'd like to chat, or need any other information don't hesitate to message me through here.
*hugs*
ETA: If you match with a donor independently you'll typically only pay the donor $3k-$5k, then whatever the medications and doctor's appointments cost for her.

It's my understanding that donor embryos are less expensive than donor eggs, because there wouldn't be any genetic material from you or your husband. This can be tricky for some, but I know many women who have gone this route per their doc's recommendation and have no regrets. It's a personal decision. You would still be able to carry the baby this way, if that is something that is very meaningful to you. There is an organization called Snowflakes Adoption that specializes in donor embryos - check it out, can't hurt, right? Good luck with whatever you do.

Unfortunately the price tag sounds about right, if it includes the donor cycle (meds, procedures and compensation for the donor), IVF, and transfer (including all meds you have to take to sync your cycles, prep yourself for pregnancy, all blood-workups and ultrasounds).
I have a relative who went through this (successful on the first attempt) and she paid much more than that in NYC. It was still cheaper than infant-adoption would have been - unless you are doing foster-to-adopt.
