Seeking Recommendation for Toddler Yoga Video
Hello,
I am interested in doing yoga with my active 2 year old boy. I remember how peaceful I felt doing yoga before motherhood and can use that feeling again. I put a regular yoga video in the other day and started practicing some positions--but he was not interested in joining me except to climb on me during some floor poses. So something fun for kids that can keep them interested would be good. Does anyone have recommendations on a good toddler yoga video to get us started?
Thanks,
J.

Hi J.,
Gaiam has a kids yoga DVD, but it is not specifically for toddlers. I have not seen it, but the label on the back makes it look interesting. This DVD can be found at Target in the exercise section of the store near the yoga mats and is approximately $20.
There is also a "mommy and me" DVD, that uses a combination of yoga and pilates. A friend of mine raved about that DVD, and there is also a follow-up DVD for when the children get older. The DVD is by Parents Magazine and can be found in Target near the greeting card area in with the Lifescapes CDs. It is approximately $15.

Gaiam has a set -- ABC Yoga and From Silly to Calm Yoga -- that you can purchase at Target, Whole Foods or Amazon. You may also be able to find it at Borders and Barnes & Noble but not so sure if that's the case.
Enjoy!

A couple of weeks ago, I started watching Family Yoga with Rodney Yee, Donna Fone and kids. My 30-month-old toddler sometimes does it with me, and both he and his 15-month-old brother like watching it. I feel as though I've gotten more flexible in the last couple of weeks.

Some kids, like my son for example have a hard time relaxing, sitting still, or maintaining interest. Just because you enjoy it, doesn't mean your child will immediately. Try learning the stretches and doing it with your child like a game. Change possitions frequently and see if you boy can keep up. . . That's what I do and my son loves it. Stretching is so wonderful for you and your boy.

Hi J.,
I have 2 dvd's that I use in my preschool to help teach yoga. The ages in my class are 2.5 and up, so they should work well with your little guy.
"yoga kids" from giam kids- this one is pretty mellow and calm.
The other one is called "yoga for the kid in all of us" by yogamazing- this one is pretty silly and always gets a giggle out of my students.
I got both of them on amazon.
We alternate between both of them since they are pretty different in their approach. (silly vs. calm)
Hope this is helpful!
