Seeking Reading Tutor for My First Grader in Plainfield

I am hoping someone will be able to help me on this one. My soon-to-be first grader (6 years old) is having difficulties with his reading. I am thinking about getting him a tutor but I don't know where to look for someone who is competent, patient and caring. Besides Sylvan Learning Center or any other big name tutoring centers, I was wondering if anyone knows anyone who does it on the side. If you have any recommendations I would love to hear about it. Thanks so much!

talk to the school and see if they have a reading specialist that will work with your child. District 202 offers this for free and it really does help. They can also give you stuff that will help.

Do not worry it is ok for a child to go into 1st grade not reading well! Most schools test 1st graders and will get them additional help if they feel it is needed. Reading is a big part of 1st grade. We need to stop trying to make our children into overacheivers like their parents! If the teacher thinks additional help is needed I am sure they will let you know. C.
