Seeking Plano/Murphy Church with REAL Atmosphere & GREAT Infant/toddler Care

I have a 7 month old daughter and a 3 year old niece-I am looking for a fun, non-stuffy church with good folks to care for my daughter and niece while my sister and I worship/attend Sunday school. A big plus would be young couples types of classes we could bring our husbands to. I am 32 and my sister is 29. We have never gone to church and left our babies with church caregivers before, so we are a little nervous. Please tell me about any great churches/experiences. Thanks!!

What can I do next?

Thank you all for your great suggestions! We are attending my husband's Orthodox church for now. But I may work my way around these to see if there are any other good matches for us. Thanks!

My home church, Arapaho Road Baptist Church, is a great...really GREAT place for babies, toddlers and adults. Is not in Murphy, but is really close. I live in Garland, a couple miles from Murphy road, and our church is just 7 minutos from home, in fact, a lot of family members of our church come from Plano and Murphy.

There are three services on Sunday. You may take a look at our church's web page at: www.arbcgarland.com

Blessings,

We also attend Fellowship Church (not FBC-North). My husband grew up in a cult environment and was very hesitant to even walk into a church. We were looking for something that would allow us to be as involved as WE wanted to be. I wanted rich meaningful sermons and my husband just wanted to acclaimate without being pushed. We found that at Fellowship. Fellowship is contemporary and high energy at all levels from preschool through the worship service. We have Home Teams instead of traditional Sunday School that allow you to find a small group that right for you. My ds is now moving into the Jr. High worship group and is very excited! My dd is 4 and can't wait to get up on Sunday morning. She gets excited just driving by the church!

C.,

You must check out Fellowship Church Plano! Here is their website: http://www.plano.fellowshipchurch.com. I work in the preschool ministry, and their children's ministry is amazing. The church services are extremely entertaining yet remain very biblical. The praise music includes some Christian rock, and they are very creative in their sermons. Let me know if you want to come visit - my husband, myself, my 3 year-old daughter and newborn son would love to meet you guys up there!

God Bless,
A.

Hi C.!

My family and I have been attending Gateway Community Church for the last year and a half. It is a small, very casual and friendly, church that meets at Groves Elementary school located off HWY544 on McCreary. (one street past Murphy Rd) We are a very young church with TONS of young families with children. I'm the coordinator for the 1-2yr classroom, and we have doubled our numbers in the last 6 months. My little girl loves her class, and so do I! Gateway focuses heavily on thier childrens program. It is a major priority to our leadership staff. Since we are a small church, we do not have regular adult classes on Sunday mornings, but we have TEAM groups that meet during the week. We attend one on Sunday night in Murphy that is full of young couples with kids. We thank God daily for leading us to this church. Here's the church website, if you want to check it out... http://www.gatewayonline.org/

Hi C.,

My family go to Fellowship Church in Plano. It is located on Avenue K next to the Garden Ridge. The physical address is 6400 Avenue K, Plano, Texas 75074. I found out about Fellowship when I was on staff as the Children's Minister at another church. Fellowship Church is well known for their excellent children's ministry and we constantly went to Children's Ministry conventions at Fellowship and were in contact with their Children's Ministry. We molded our ministry after Fellowship so when it came time for me to resign my position we felt God wanted us to make Fellowship our new church home. I love this place and I am VERY particular about who takes care of my children.

Aside from the children, Ed Young is the Senior Pastor and if you want REAL...you'll get it at Fellowship. The atmosphere is contemporary, casual and relaxed. There are all kinds of age groups, but to me it seems like there are a lot of young families. You can visit the website at www.fellowshipchurch.org and check out the plano campus.

It is so awesome that you and your family are wanting to find a church home. God Bless You!!

In Him,
L.

ps: Be sure and tell us what church you decided to go to!

I attend Murphy Road Baptist Church in Murphy. It's located on Murphy Road between Renner and 544. I'm also on staff. I have an almost 2 year old who has been in the Nursery since she was an infant and we've never had any problems. Your niece would be able to attend Children's Church which is a blast for the kids. We have a traditional style worship at 8:30, Bible Fellowship for every age (Sunday School) at 9:45 and a Contemporary worship at 11:00 (my favorite). A class that I think you would love is our Reflections Bible Fellowship class. They meet upstairs at the top of the stairs in room 221. Our website is www.murphyroad.org or you can visit the childrens website at www.murphyroadkids.org. We are a very laid back, casual, gracefilled church. We would love to have you! Email me if you would like any additional information! ____@____.com or ____@____.com.

Hi C.,
I would recommend you check out Cross Bend Christian Church. They are very kid oriented. They have a variety of Sunday school classes and may fit your needs. They have a smaller congregation, which is something I like.
