Hello moms! I just moved to the Westmont Area and I am looking for some referrals. What urgent care facility would you recommend for your child? We have a Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO so we can usually go most places. I am also looking to for a new pediatrician and potentially a pediatric allergist. We have been with DuPage Medical group for a while and I like them but now we live farther away and I am looking for someone in the area. Thanks for any help.

What can I do next?

Dr. Coufal in Downer's Grove (her office is at Good Sam's)
she is awesome with kids, and is affiliated with 3 hospitals locally, and has helped us with our allergy issues as well. ###-###-#### is their phone..

Dear S.:

FORGOT TO ADD SO SORRY---SHE IS A PEDIATRICIAN, MARTINE NELSON (on Mape Ave. affiliated with Good Sam and other hospitals in the area), AND MARY KAY TOBIN A PEDIATRIC ALLERGIST. ALSO FOR ADVENTIST HEALTH A DR. JACOBS, PEDIATRIC ALLERGIST IS EXCELLENT, AND EXCELLENT BEDSIDE MANNER.

I am a mom of 3 grown kids now but my sons suffered from chronic/acute allergies/asthma their entire lives. My eldest is 24 and youngest son 17. Also my daughter has had much trouble with allergies. I am in the medical field transcriber and worked on hospital units as secretary 11 years @ Hinsdale and previous @ Loyola-Stritch 6 years. Now an Admin Secretary for the system. I have gotten to know many docs over those years and must tell you from Loyola as a student I knew a wonderful, caring doctor, Martine Nelson, who practices in Lisle off Ogden. She literally saved my eldest son's life as his asthma was so severe from his allergies and consulted with a Dr. Mary Kay Tobin her friend from Loyola, one of the top allergists in Chicago who had a news column for the Trib. years back. My son was the first child to receive a nebulizer in the Chicago area for his asthma resulting from such severe allergies. His case of course differently as he had problems @ birth. I know from reading it is allergies not asthma for your child, just know that Dr. Nelson is superb in her field, and just as importantly a wonderful caring bedside manner---my family has always just adored her! I myself suffered with allergies/allergy shots for many years till I delivered my daughter @ 27 yrs of age and the hormone change caused my very awful allergies to cease and here I am @ 53 no allergies all these many years now...go figure, lol....

If you would like more info you can also write me @ ____@____.com.

Whatever your decision, God bless! I came across you e-mail question and felt I had to answer...

P.

We are with the Family Medical Group in La Grange, they are family drs. I have had no issues and they have nice hrs.. 9-8 M-Th and until 5 on Friday. They are in the medical bldg attached to the hospital. I have been fortunate enough not to need an urgent care at this time.

We go to DuPage Pediatrics on Plainfield Road in Darien (near 75th and Cass). They have evening hours and Saturday hours, and I have never had a problem getting my kids seen when they are sick. The office staff and nurses are great. We see Dr. Gardner, but I also like Dr. Hall, Dr. Kelly, and Dr. Davis. I'm not a fan of Dr. Huang or Dr. Lynch, just because I don't think they have good pediatric bedside manner. They are affiliated with Hinsdale Hospital.

Their phone number is ###-###-####.

Hey S., I no longer live in Westmont...however I do know DuPage Pediatrics (could be part of the medical group) is located on Plainfield Road in Darien which is south on Cass Ave pass 75th street. It really is not far at all if you live in Westmont. As for Urgent Care Facility there aren't any in the area. Only the hospital in Downers Grove on Highland.

I used to live in La Grange Park, and I take my kids to C&C Pediatrics in Westchester. It is just two doctors in a strip mall at 31st and Wolf Rd. I live in Naperville, but I still make the drive to Westchester because I love this practice. The doctors are basically the only staff. They answer the phones and handle the bills. And they are NEVER late. I take my kids to Dr. March. She is good with the kids and is pretty laid back (which I really like, but if this is not your style, then this might not be a good practice for you). They take Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO and have Saturday hours too. Good luck finding a new practice!
