HI I live in MB and looked for 8 months in this area for an available and holositic minded pediatrician that was specifically educated about how to avoid autism triggers ie too many antibiotics, or mulitple vaccinations etc...and NO LUCK. I had to go to SM to find mine. And he is EXPENSIVE. I'd still like a local doc as a back up if you find a good one please let me know! Thank you and Good Luck!! ____@____.com

Congratulations. It can be overwhelming trying to find a good pediatrician. You might want to check with your hospital where you are delivering if they have any recommendations. I was recommended to Dr. Ruth Demonteverde. 500 S. Sepulveda Blvd., Suite 205, MB ###-###-####, by a friend. My daughter is almost 3 and we've been very happy with her care. I scheduled an interview with her before we made our decision. I've heard nothing but good things about Dr. Wong's office as well - just hard to get in.
Good Luck

Hey L.,
Congrats on the soon to be new baby. I have a 10 month old. I take him to Dr. Gwen Klymanin Torrance. She is right across the way from Torrance Memorial. She is AWESOME. She will give you both sides of everything. She stays up to date on all the latest. She doesn't over medicate, she writes everything down for you, she tells you everything she is doing and why, and the other doctors in her office are amazing. My son developed Pyloric Stenosis, (I know, I had never heard of it before either) and before we knew what he had I thought he was just coming down with something, well, I had called her in the morning and told her what was going on with him, she told me what to do, and then she (the DR.) called me 4 times throughout the day to check in on how he was doing. Well, we wound up going in the next day because he didn't get any better and they diagnosed him that morning and he had surgery that night.
The moral of the story is, sometimes you can't even get the office to call you back for an appointment, and I had the actual Doctor call to check in with him.
So I highly recommend her. My Godmother has been a NP in the Torrance area for a long time and could not say enough things about her. Everyone that asks who his Dr. is says that she is awesome.

Good Luck and push hard!!!

Congrats! Such an exciting time for you. I ahve 4 kids ages 10 down to 4. We are with Dr.Liu and think she is excellent. I am not sure if she or her partner are taking news patients. However it is worth a call. ###-###-####. My youngest son has had numerous pulmonary issues and her refs to LA area docs have been excellent. I think she is outstanding!

It really depends on if you have HMO or PPO. A lot of the doctors aren't accepting new patients unless they are newbors, so you may have some luck there.
I've heard great things about: Dr. Curtis (not taking HMO, but is accepting new patients). Dr. Lou (I don't think she's taking new patients, but you may want to check). I used to have a list, but my email deleted all the names & #'s. I'm still looking for someone and mine is almost 11months. I've switched a few times because either the wait time is too long or the staff isn't friendly. I think if you have PPO, you may be in a better situation. Dr. Wong I've heard good things. Dr. Tannenbaum (in the Healthcare Partners building on Prospect & Beryl, not MB, but...). Dr. Ghafouri (I didn't connect with her, but a lot of people do).
Hope that helps a little. Also, try looking on: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/PeachheadSouthbay. It's similar to this site and I just heard about both.

Hey L.. Congratulations! You are in the home stretch. I take my 4 month old to the Manhattan Beach Kids' Docs group ###-###-####, 855 Manhattan Beach Blvd, Manhattan Beach CA 90266). My doctor there is Joanna Wong, but I've seen all of the doctors there. They are all so great (all women), caring and know what's up. Problem is, they are so busy they may not have any openings, but check it out. They came highly recommended from a friend of mine who knows the pediatricians in the area and I couldn't be happier.
