Seeking Options for Creating a Video from Old Photos for Dad's 70Th B-day

Does anyone have a recommendation for an individual or business that makes commemorative videos from old photos? I would like to have something like this made for my Dad's 70th b-day.

What can I do next?

I know a guy who I have used for my wedding, a Funeral and a Fathers Day Collage. He charges $2.50 per picture. If you are interested let me know and I can forward you his info.

Hi C.,
I did DVD slideshows for my family. Bought an inexpensive scanner online for under $100. then scanned my old photos and made into a slideshow with a Mac laptop.
If you have access to a Mac and a scanner you will save a lot of money doing it yourself.
You can apply whatever music you like. It is work, but fun too.
Just a thought.

My mother makes DVD's like what your talking about, she did one of my Deceased brother and his family and had us watch it on the christmas after his death, very touching and she also did one of me and my husband for our 1st wedding anniversary. She puts music to it and does an amazing job. What are you looking to spend? Email me back at ____@____.com if interested.

You should be able to do this from your own computer. Dont pay someone. Just scan the photos all into the same file in the order you want them. Then go to the section where you can burn them onto a DVD or CD and it should give you the option to add music. You can pull the music from itunes.

There is another avenue here. If you're looking for experience and creativity, check out the people who do wedding videos and wedding pictures. They do those slideshow things all the time. They should have examples they can show you of their work and any fancier touches they provide. I have to wonder if those UEDIT guys might be technically saavy, but perhaps not as creatively saavy. Then they want you to make every decision rather than letting their experience and creativity show YOU new tricks and make suggestions.

You can check with http://www.ueditvideo.com/site2009/ They are in Richardson. I used them to convert old 8mm reels of film to DVD. They do a LOT of stuff. On my last visit, I learned they do archival work for SMU. Check around - I don't know how expensive they are compared to other options, however, I loved that it was local - I didn't want to lose my precious film in the mail.

I think I have seen other folks on this board say they actually do this kind of work.

U Edit Video on Round Grove Rd/FM 3040 in Lewisville (just west of Vista Ridge mall) is very reasonable. You can do as much or as little and they will do the rest (ie. scanning photos, playing time, music background, etc.). They did the video my daughter played while people were seated during her wedding and it turned out great.
