Seeking Opinions About Pediatrician and MD
Hello. I recently moved back to St. Louis (Webster Groves) w/ my 4 1/2 yr old son and am looking for a pediatrician who is open minded, easy to talk to, and very thorough for my son (adopted since birth, mild asthma and mild metabolic disorder) and looking for MD for myself, who is also open-minded, thorough, preventive medicine and possible open to alternative healing/holistic care. Any suggestions much appreciated.

I would recommend Southwest Pediatrics, they are a great group of pediatricians, we used Dr. Schmidt.

I go to Dr. Guillemette for internal medicine and he has been great. He doesn't hold back on the meds when you need them and does suggest holistic therapies when appropriate.

I would have to recommend Webster Family Practice. I've heard great things about them, and I'm thinking about switching my family there. I think the doctor's name is Dr. Wesslein. I'm not positive though. Good luck.

Look into Dr. Mark Pelikan at DePaul Family Medicine in Overland (in the plaza with Schnucks right off of 170 at Page). He's a family practice physician, so he sees my entire family. He's been great with both the kids and adults in my family. Good luck!

I asked my friend Rebecca who sees a doctor out in Webster, and she e-mailed this back:
"My infant son and I both see Christian Wessling at Webster Family Physicians on Big Bend. Dr. Wessling is an MD who also works in homeopathic medicine. He's a family doctor rather than a pediatrician, though he sees tons of kids. He's reserved, which may not make him especially easy to talk to for some, but very thorough, unhurried, and a good listener. He has a lot of ideas about asthma and allergies and nutrition in general that might be helpful for your son. I don't like the nurse-practitioner on staff quite so much (but she's perfectly competent in a pinch). I wouldn't recommend the practice to someone who wasn't open to alternative medicine, but it sounds like you might be a great fit. And you can't beat the location!"
Hope this helps!
