Seeking Open-minded OB

We have just moved to the North County area from the East Coast and are considering TTC'ing for #2. Was wondering if anyone had good experiences with OBs who are willing to welcome, or even tolerate, slightly less conventional birthing practices, such as having a doula and minimal labor monitoring. I'm not about to give birth underwater in the middle of a field of flowers (not that there's anything wrong with that), but I was hoping for an enlightened OB. Thanks in advance!

What can I do next?

Hi E.

I know of one doctor in Encinitas. Her name is Angela Zaid, MD. She is in the 477 El Camino Real Building. She does hypnosis for labor and is very open minded to less invasive types of delivery's. I think she or her partner would be great doctors to visit or interview.

Good Luck!!
M.

I recently relocated to the Naval hospital because I live on Camp Pendleton. But when I fisrt got pregnant this time, I went to a wonderful women named Dr. Rahale Mazarai. She is associated with Tri-city Medical Center and very much into giving you as much space as is possible. They will only put you on a monitor when you are in Active labor. At that point, most people don't really want to go jogging down the halls any way. Hope this helps

E., my OB doctor is Dr. Gerber in Encinitas. I also see Dr. Shipp and Dr. Enyedy there as well. All three are compassionate and exceptional doctors. I am due in 3 weeks. I am scheduled for a C-Section due to complications with my last pregnancy but they have let me create a birthing plan for my delivery including choosing my anethesiologist, my surgical nurse (who was there for me last time but has gone into semi-retirement), who places my heplock at the hospital, the pain medication I will receive post-op, etc. They were very flexible the first time around as well in trying to let me go the distance with having a natural delivery. Unfortunately I developed a fever after 28 hours of labor and my son's heartrate kept decelerating and so I was rushed into OR and had an emergency C-Section. I hope this helps you.

I absolutely Love my OB, he is in Escondido and is located on Valley Pkwy right across the street from Palomar Hospital. His name is Gregory Langford & his # ###-###-####. If you are in the Escondido area you and your 3-foot-tall tyrant boss should stop by Super Play, it is an indoor playground and party center for kids 6 and under. Myself and my husband are the owners/operators, our website is www.SuperPlayEscondido.com
Good luck and maybe we'll meet in the future!
