Seeking OB/GYN in Independence Area Who Is Not Against Voluntary C-section
I have recently moved to Independence and am looking for an OB/GYN in the area that would be willing to perform a voluntary c-section. I opted for a c-section with my first child because he was going to be a large baby (he was 9 lbs., 4 oz. and was born a week before his due date) and the options were to either induce before the due date or go ahead with a c-section. I chose the c-section knowing that there was a possibility of having to have a c-section anyway if I did not progress after being induced. I am not yet pregnant, but my husband and I are planning to try to get pregnant this summer, so I want to have an OB/GYN already lined up. If at all possible, I would like to have the next baby via voluntary c-section as well. Can anyone help me find an office that is not opposed to the idea?

they are located on 23rd st on the same side of the road as mci, just a little futher east. give them a call and they might be able to help you. i'm sure if you explain your situation, they will be able to help you. i have a book with doctors: names, addresses & phone #'s if they can't help you. i would be glad to look up all of the ob/gyn clinics that are listed and send them to you. good luck.

Most doctors don't preform V-bacs because they are extremely risky and can cause many complications. So you don't have anything to worry about I wouldn't think. If the doctor you choose does do V-bacs, then at that point its your decision. No doctor can MAKE YOU have a v-bac. Good luck. My husband and I have a almost 13 month old son and we're planning on trying for baby #2 (hopefully a girl) in early spring or summer also

If you've had a c-section before, most doctors will require that you have a c-section on any further pregnancy/deliveries.

You'll be hard-pressed to find an OB/GYN who will do a "voluntary" c-section without a medically sound reason. They're much more risky, more prone to infection and have much worse "after" effects with longer recovery time than a vaginal birth.
But, you probably don't have anything to worry about since you've already had a c-section with your previous child. Most doctors stick to the "once cesarean, always cesarean" viewpoint, and are against V-backs. So whatever OB you choose will almost certainly automatically want to do a c-section for you anyway.
Happy ovulating! :) And best wishes!

I actually think it is dangerous to have natural birth. almost any doctor will want you to have another c-section. I had to have one with my first and plan to have one with my next child.
