Seeking Nice Ob-gyn Affiliated with Northwestern Memorial

I would really prefer a midwife, even though I am not pregnant. I just prefer someone that I can be personal with. If I have a lot of questions they all not annoyed and wanting to rush me out of the office. I would rather be concerned about my health at 24 then having to worry down the line. I have PCHS (PPO)insurance and would prefer someone in the downtown area since I work close.

What can I do next?

I love, love, love, my doctor - Dr. Micah Garb at Lakeshore OB-GYN at 680 N LSD, Floor 8. He's a man, so if you would prefer a woman, Dr. Purel Gupta is awesome there (and delivered my son b/c she was on rotation when he was delivered) or Dr. Bolger. I have never felt rushed by any of them. I have seen Dr. Garb for regular PAP visits, OB visits, and just had a LEEP done by him because I had severe dysplasia. Every step he's been kind and professional. It's a big decision, good luck!

I also really like Carol Hirschfield and all the midwives at the NMPG group at Northwestern. Located at 680 Lakeshore drive. ###-###-####. I'm currenlty pregnant with my 2nd baby and have had nothing but a good experience with them for both pregnancies.

I'd second Heather K's recommendation for Lakeshore OB/GYN. They are in the 680 N Lakeshore building. I just had my daughter in the beginning of August and couldn't be happier with the care I received throughout the pregnancy. I never felt rushed during my appointments. I see Dr. Barton. I don't think she is taking new patients, but I rotated through all the MDs during my prenatal appointments and thought they were all very personable - I think only Drs Garb, Gupta and Bolger are taking new patients. Another nice thing is that the office really runs on time - I never had to wait more than 15 minutes for my appointment

I agree with some of the other posts & HIGHLY recommend Lakeshore Ob/Gyn. It is a GREAT practice! I had to switch practices due to an insurance change at the same time I found out I was pregnant. I chose Lakeshore Ob/Gyn & I am so grateful that I did! I see Dr. Barton, but I've met with the entire practice. Dr. Gupta & Dr. Garb delivered our daughter & they were wonderful during the entire birthing experience. Along with Dr. Barton each visited us during our hospital stay as well. I HIGHLY recommend this practice! Dr. Barton told me that they will likely keep the practice to 6 doctors which is an advantage over some of the larger practices (you never know who you'll end up with during labor). Also, their office recently expanded & they have an onsite ultrasound tech & lab. I don't believe Dr. Barton is accepting new patients, but Drs. Shaw, Gupta, & Garb are all just as knowledgeable, friendly & personable! Here's a link to their website: http://lakeshoreobgyn-chicago.net/
You seriously can't go wrong with this practice!!!

Carol Hirschfield Northwestern Memorial Womens Group at 680 N LSD. She is a midwife there and really great. None of the docs in the practice have ever rushed me out and have always been open to talk and have been very honest and responsive. I just had my second child with the practice and have met all of the doc's as well as many of the midwifes and felt really comfortable with all of them.

When I was living downtown my OB/GYN was Dr. Robert Kelsey, he was right in the same building as the old Prentice hospital. He delivered my first baby, he was great!
