Seeking New Countertop

I am remodeling a house I just bought. The kitchen countertops are that old lamanite that looks like really fake wood. My kitchen is small and I want to either do lamanite again or go with a solid surface. Granite is too upscale and pricy for my house so Im really not interested in that. Does anyone have any suggestions on reasonably priced places to get a countertop like this one? Im in the Wichita area. Thank you in advance!

What can I do next?

The south Sutherlands carries the long one-piece laminate countertops with the short backsplash and the rounded front edge. We redid a small kitchen last summer and they had the longest pieces and the best prices. I think it was around $100 for a 12 foot countertop. Just cut to fit. Good luck! I hope your project goes well.

S.,

We moved into home that needed a new countertop in a small kitchen as well! We looked at Lowe's and Home Dept both, I found the one I wanted at Lowe's and sent off for my movers coupon which took the price down even more.

You didn't say if someone else is installing it, I know Lowe's does do installation but, I don't know what they charge for installation as my husband did construction for 35 years so he installed it himself.

Jabarra's does have countertop too and it looks about the same, I didn't realize until afterwards that they had it but if you are shopping around you might look at theirs. Congrats on the new home, have fun remodeling!!

If you do the work yourself or have a friend or relative who can help you out, you might want to check into granite tile. We recently remodeled a house for our son and daughter in law (we paid in the $65,000 range for the house). We gutted the kitchen and found granite tile in the color Baltic Brown (it's actually mostly black) at a place on West Street called Quality Granite and Marble (Wichita) for $7.50 a square foot. We put a would edge band on to finish the edges and it looks beautiful. You can do it yourself with granite tile for about the same price it would cost you to have a professional come in to do a Formica countertop (not the molded kind but actually glueing the Formica to the wood counter). I'll be happy to give you more info if you want it.

Good Morning S., Check out Lowe's, Home Depot, Then I think (not sure) Jabara's has countertop also.
I looked in the Phone book and was looking for The Cabinet Lady :( out of Derby. Can't find her :(
