Seeking Moms Interested in Pre-natal Yoga and in Infant Yoga in St. Paul Area
I am interested in finding other mom's interested in pre-natal and also young children's yoga in the St. Paul area. I am expecting my second child at the end of September and I have a daughter who will be two tomorrow. I get somewhat disappointed when I look on the web to find that there are cities all over the US that offer what I am looking for, but when I look in the St. Paul area or even the entire Mpls./St. Paul area that I cannot find classes. I finally did find a yoga studio with a great instructor, but I am having to pay for individual sessions because more moms are not interested or were like me and had never found the studio. Please let me know if you are interested. I'm looking for some other mommy yogis and kiddie yoga for myself and for my daughter.

So What Happened?™
Here is what happened. I found yoga instructors, but no one was interested in doing courses with kids. I don't understand this. Therefore, the only option that did work out was that "Closed Eyes Yoga" will be having a class (September, possibly earlier) when their instructor has fully recovered from her broken leg. I will be looking into this then. They also have a pre-natal class that I think is running right now (drop ins I think are fine). You can check their website www.closedeyesyoga.com or call ###-###-####. They are located in St. Paul at 1832 St. Clair Avenue.

I'd be interested if the price was in my range and only if it's in IGH or may WSP. Where in St. Paul is this at?

Hi C.,
I have an 18 month old daughter and am expecting #2 in October- I'd be interested in prenatal/ kiddie yoga if we could find a time that worked for everyone. I hope more people respond too.
Happy birthday to your daughter tomorrow,

I know exactly what you mean! I am a SAHM to 2 year old Charlie and 4 month old Joey. We were living in Washington D.C. when Charlie was born, and I took prenatal classes that then led directly into postnatal infant (and would have continued into toddler classes). I have looked everywhere for the post natal and toddler classes but no luck.
I did take prentatal classes at the St. Paul Yoga Studio on Selby Ave. this past time around, and enjoyed them. Not the same as my D.C. experience though.
I would FOR SURE be interested in baby/toddler classes.

The Yoga Center (it's in Minneapolis, though) has great prenatal classes. Check out there website. They also have yoga bonding classes with your baby and a class for new moms to get back into shape after you have your baby. The instructors are wonderful!!

Hi C.,
For Pre-Natal yoga in St. Paul, I highly recommend IHT on Summit Ave. The class is $10 and meets one Saturday a month from 9-10am. See http://www.ihtyoga.org for schedule. The instructor (Kate) is wonderful, and she will have the class even if you're the only one attending.
I'd be interested in the mom & kiddie yoga class. I have 2 boys, one will be 2 at the end of May and the other is 4 months old. Please let me know if you end up setting up a group for this!
Thanks,
E.

I have a 2 1/2 month old and a 2 year old on May 5th. I am always looking for something like this. We bought our daughter a yoga tape but Im not a big fan of it. I think she would really benefit from a mom and kid or young kids yoga class.

I can identify! I have looked everywhere for pre- and postnatal yoga classes. I work full-time so that makes it even harder, as a lot of classes are only offered during the day. When I was pregnant, I only found one place that I could get to after work. It's called the Center for Happiness in Minneapolis (www.centerforhappiness.com), and it's very close to St. Paul.
The classes there are pretty good. They are very traditional (chanting, etc.), which took me a while to get used to. And they are tiny, tiny classes (sometimes I was the only one!). But the instructor is very good and nice, and you can just pay as you go.
I still haven't found any place that offers post-natal classes in the evenings or weekends. :-( I have a very active 5 month old and I would love to try it with him.
