Hi N..

I am in Lewisville with my 7 month old son. He had reflux as an infant and was in pain much of the time. I know how hard it can be. Please leave me a message if you would like to get together and talk. I promise, it does get easier with time. My baby is so much fun now and the happiest baby I've seen. Take a deep breath and send me a message!

The MOMS club is great! I joined when I had my 1st. I was new in the area and going nuts. I met wonderful people. This was 7 years ago. I met my best friend there. Good luck. Hang in there. It gets better, I promise.

I would contact your local MOMS Club chapter. This is a link. I joined when my daughter was about 7 weeks old and it saved my sanity. I was flying blind and didn't realize it would be so hard to be a mother. Between no sleep and finding my way with motherhood, these women really helped me out.

Flower Mound has three chapters so I just selected one. They will direct you to the appropriate chapter if this isn't the one that geographically fits your location the best.

I don't know a Mom's group for that age, but you got good information on that already.

I was just wondering if you had been hit by the baby blues and that was why you were looking for support (not that you wouldn't be looking anyway, but the timing of your email with a 2 week old made me remember the blues).

If you do have the baby blues, it can be really devastating.... I know when they hit me, I thought something was wrong with me... mentally... and I would not tell anyone else what was going on in my head, because I didn't realize what it was... it was horrible.... I had the strangest thoughts and feelings.

I hope you don't have it, but if you do just know that lots of women do get them, it's normal and there's help out there. Start with your doctor, husband, family for help. You might even need medication for bit, till the hormones stop raging out of control which is what triggers the blues.

If it's not the blues, then good luck to you finding a group and excuse my going on and on!

I highly recommend joining MOMS Club! There are three chapters of MOMS Club in Flower Mound, and the one you can join depends on where your home address lies as each chapter encompasses different boundaries. You can see which chapter location includes your address:

MOMS Club Flower Mound Southeast is for moms living in Flower Mound
South of Main St. (Cross Timbers Rd 1171) and East of Long Prairie Rd. (2499). Their website is http://momsclubfmsetx.tripod.com.

MOMS Club® of Flower Mound - SW Chapter is open to any individual in Flower Mound west of FM 2499 and south of FM 1171.http://momsclub-fmsw.tripod.com/index.html.

MOMS Club® of Flower Mound - North is for moms north of FM1171 (Cross Timbers) and west of Kirkpatrick, and also includes the areas of Double Oak and Copper Canyon. http://momsfmn-ivil.tripod.com.

You can also visit the MOMS Club International website at http://www.momsclub.org.

Congrats on your new baby girl!!!

Congrats on your new baby! I agree with alot of the posters...Mothers and More is a great group. I just joined over the summer and they have been very welcoming. Since Im also a SAHM I was looking for some playgroups for my kids (and for me to get together with some adults while the kids play)!. Mothers and more has a playgroup for every age and get togethers for moms too! Alot of us live in Flower Mound too.

Meetup.com has lots of playgroups. I know your child is very young, but at least you could get out and meet some other Moms. There is also one for single parents.

I'd also second the baby blues comment. I would cry for no reason at all. Try to get a nice walk in(before it gets hot) every day. It will help you mentally. When its you taking care of a new baby 24/7, you don't get a sanity break. Sleep deprivation & whacked out hormones will greatly effect your mood. Hang in there. It gets better!

There are several Moms groups in the Flower Mound area. MOMS Club is one of them. There are 3 groups based on where you live. The website is www.momsclub.org. You can also contact the FM North group at angie@____@____.com and she can let you know if you would be in our group or one of the others. MOMS Club has been a great group for me and my son, now 2.

There is also a MOPS group and the Greater Lewisville Early PTA. I would also suggest asking your pediatrician for any other suggestions as well.

Good luck

We don't meet in Flower Mound, but I belong to a terriffic MOPS group that meets at the Church at the Cross on William D Tate in Grapevine. They have child care and you get to meet other moms. From the meetings you are able to meet moms with kids the same age as yours and maybe in the same area that you can meet with outside of the group. We meet once a month and our first meeting is at 9:15 on 9/17/08. Let me know if you want more info.

Check with your ob. You sound like you might have postpartum depression- sorry to e so forward. A friend of mine went through this last year. It was so hard to watch because she was so listless, overwhelmed, and sad after her little one arrived.
Fortunately, things have turned around. I know they will for you too!
Here is a link to MOMS Club of Southeast Flower Mound. There are actually 3 MOMS Clubs in Flower Mound. depending on where you live, another might be closer to you.
Good Luck,

La Leche League provides support for breastfeeding moms (as well as breastfeeding information) and there is a meeting in Lewisville this coming Tuesday (Sept. 16th). Meetings are the first Tuesday of each month at 7PM and the third Tuesday of each month at 10AM at the First Presbyterian Church of Lewisville (corner of Fox Ave. and Edmonds Lane). Meetings are a great place to be around other breastfeeding moms and be in a supportive environment. www.llli.org

It can be completely overwhelming to adjust to motherhood and being responsible for another human life! You are not alone!

Hi N. - Boy, can I relate! I'm sure all of us can. I live in Flower Mound, am the same age as you & had my first child back in December '07. I remember those early days VERY well - don't worry, it gets so much better! Anyway, I'd love to offer you any sort of friendship/support you need whenever you need it! Just give me a call & maybe we can meet up sometime or just chat ###-###-####). Also, there's a great website called www.meetup.com where you can go & find local mom playgroups in your area if you're just wanting to get out of the house. You can find any sort of group on this site, actually - just type in your location & what you're interested in. Hope to hear from you! Take care - A.

A new baby can be very overwhelming, don't feel at all that you are alone. One place that I found a lot of support and encouragement was my MOPS group (Mothers of PreSchoolers). You can go to their website to find a group near you. It's mops.org.

Best of luck to you and your new precious baby.

I have been a memeber of Mothers & More since my oldest (now 11!) was 18 months old. I am still friends with many of the moms I met back then. The women in this group are wonderful! They host playgroups, outings, mom's nights out, and lots of other stuff. When one of the other moms in the group was very sick recently, the group put together a helping schedule where people were bringing her meals, picking up her kids, etc. The group also includes a great e-mail loop that is sort of like this Mamasource site -- just smaller and with all local people who are in the group. I highly recommend it! It's the Greater Lewisville chapter, but there are tons of moms from Flower Mound.

I remember how overwhelming the first weeks were. Hang in there!! And good for you for reaching out for support -- whatever group you join, having other people to talk to makes it soooo much more manageable!!

Wonderful name for a little girl!!!
I joined Mothers and More when my son was 8 months old. This group saved me in many ways. I was working from home, over tired, isolated and then BAM, playgroups, coffee's, good times and now, three years later, we are still here and having a blast.

Mothers and More has a ton to offer so look us up, come check us out. We can't wait to meet you and D.!

Hello N.,

Congratulations on you new baby girl! Have you heard of MOPS.

http://www.mops.org/
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. MOPS International exists to meet the needs of every mom - urban, suburban and rural moms, stay-at-home and working moms, teen, single and married moms - moms with different lifestyles who all share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be! MOPS recognizes that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs.

MOPS helps moms through relationships established in the context of local groups that provide a caring atmosphere for today's mother of young children. MOPS also encourages and supports moms through resources such as books, this website and the MOPS International Membership.
