Seeking Moms" Group in the Oviedo/UCF Area

Hi,
I am hoping to meet other moms in my area that would like to do a playgroup. I have a very happy, hyper, polite 3yr old and a 10 week old. I work part-time on the weekends, but am home Mon-Fri. This is my first time being a SAHM sort-of- and most of my close friends work. Honestly- I feel pretty isolated during the week and miss working during the week. I really want to enjoy this experience of being home with my girls, so I am doing my part to reach out to other Moms. I hope I'm not the only Mom in Orlando that feels this way. Sincerely, R.

What can I do next?

R.- no, you're NOT the only mom who feels this way!! Staying home is isolating and lonely after being in a busy, social workplace. As much as we love our kids, it's hard. You might be looking to set up your own little playgroup, but another option is to join a moms group. The one I belong to is the MOMS (Moms Offering Moms Support) Club of Orlando North. The MOMS Club is an international group with chapters all over the place- our chapter covers the College Park/Winter Park/Maitland area. You're welcome to join our chapter, but I understand if you'd like to find one that's closer to you. (Gas prices are crazy!) You can check their website to see if there's a chapter near you at momsclub.org. There's also a group called East Orlando Moms that might be good for you: eastorlandomoms.com. And there's a site to help you find meet-ups with other stay-at-home moms in your area: http://sahm.meetup.com/2112/?gj=sj5. The great thing about the moms group that I'm in is that the women can have companionship, the kids can have playmates, and the events are usually free or relatively cheap. If you'd prefer to start your own playgroup, maybe other moms in your area will respond to this post. I live in College Park- too bad, because my boys are 22 months and 3 months, and my older son is also very happy and hyper! Good luck!

I am the mommy to 3 preschoolers ages 2, 4, & 5.
I'm a co-coordinator with a MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group in the Avalon Park area in East Orlando. We meet 2ce a month for playdates and 1ce a month for our meetings.
Our meetings are held at Eastpoint Fellowship Church on Old Cheney off of Avalon Park Blvd. We follow the school calendar for those. There's free childcare while the mommies listen to speakers, do crafts, chat and eat breakfast. There are about 20 of us ladies. This will be my 4th year.
We are getting together this Thursday at Capehart Park at 10 a.m. They have a splash pad & we like it better than at Downey in the summer because it's strictly for preschoolers. If you'd like to join us, we'd love to meet you and your girls.

I also have an almost 3 year old boy, and worked until he was born. I felt the same way as you do, so I joined MOMS Club. It's a stay home mom support group. It saved me and I met lots of other "mom friends".

I belong to the chapter in Lake Mary as I lived there until last year, but there are chapters out this way also ( I live in Geneva ). Check out momsclub.org. They will direct you to the nearest chapter to you.

Good luck!
G.
