Seeking Mom's in Newnan, GA Area That Can Walk Me Through At-home-schooling

I am an At-Home-Mom that is moving to Newnan, GA and I need someone familiar with at-home-schooling to steer me in the right direction in how to do this. My family is presently living in NY, but we already have the residence we will be moving to in GA and I would like to get things set up from NY before we leave here in the next couple of months - school here doesn't start until September and it already starts in GA in August so I'd like some help with how to get things rolling now from here so we are already set up before we get there!! Thanks for all of your help - have a Blessed Day!!! ~C.

What can I do next?

Hi C.,
I live in Newnan-where are you moving to? I have an 18 mo old daughter, so we're not in school yet, but here's a link I found to maybe help you with getting started here. http://www.time4learning.com/homeschool/Georgia.shtml

This will be quite a culture shock from NY; I grew up in PA-there's a lot of 'transplants' in this area. good luck with the move. Feel free to email/contact me-I also know what it's like to move somewhere and know no one.
Thanks,
R. R

Hey. I am not a home schooler but I have a friend that is home schooling her daughters. She made a move from Fl. in the middle of the year and kept her two on track. If you email me your information I will pass it on to her and she can get with you. I know that she is also part of a group of home schoolers and they get together every now and then. Email me at ____@____.com Luck with the move.

This is funny - your name is C. M and my friend that I am going to call and ask about helping you is Cherie Maurer. She has homeschooled 4 children in the Newnan/Sharpsburg area and they range from about 4 years old to about 14 years old now (although that one is now in private school). I know she can give you all the in's and out's of homeschooling here. Please give me a call at ###-###-#### and in the mean time I will call her and talk to her. My name is V.. I think you will love it here. I live in Sharpsburg which is right next to Newnan (my mom lives in Newnan). The heat is hideous but there certainly isn't any snow to shovel! (My parents are from Maine and I grew up mostly in the Washington D.C. area.) It is much more laid back here and sometimes people can drive you crazy because of the informality. But the Newnan/Sharpsburg area is very nice - lots of families with lots of kids! Good luck with the move :)

My neighbor schools her girls, but they are younger (5yo and 3yo). I believe she intends to continue home-schooling so I will speak with her and find out. I'm a new mom so will you do me a favor and send me an email so that I will remember to talk with her? ____@____.com

Hi C.,

How exciting! My husband and I moved here from Boston 2 years ago (we both grew up in CT). We love it here! We also live in Newnan. Whereabouts are you moving? I am a teacher in Newnan, so I can help you with the school system end of things. As for homeschooling, not so much. Please let me know when you arrive. I'd love to meet up and chat "transplants from the Northeast!" :o)
