Seeking Midwife And/or OB Team in Arlington/Mid-Cities Area

I am 10 weeks pregnant with my second child. I had a unplanned c-section with my last child. After a lot of research and prayer, I have decided that I want to try and have a VBAC. With my first I had an unsuccessful induction that lead to my c-section for failure to progress. I hate the OB I ended up with last time and wanted to change but stayed with her since my pregnancy was almost over..I regret this decision so much. Anyways, I have since found a new OB/GYN that really like, but she refuses to attempt VBACs. So now my problem arises. We live in South Arlington, basically Mansfield. I am really wanting to deliver at Mansfield Methodist. They do allow VBACs and said they leave it up to the doctor. I have gotten a recommendation for a midwife team but they deliver at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas. I am looking for some recommendations for either a OB/ Midwife team or a midwife that does VBACs and works out of Mansfield Methodist. I prefer to deliver there, but I would still love any recommendations no matter where in the metroplex they deliver. I want the VBAC attempt more than the particular hospital. Also, if you know of any really good birthing doulas that would be great. I appreciate anything you ladies can help me with. Thanks, J.

What can I do next?

Hi J.,
I am currently using Ann Crowell from Gentle Beginnings Birth Center, www.gentlebeginningsbc.com, and she is great. She is not a nurse-midwife however so doesn't do hospital births. I live a mile from Mansfield Methodist and have not heard of any midwives that deliver there. I sometimes help out with the childbirth classes there. I can ask around to see if the nurses have any recommendation and get back to you if anyone does. Also I am a birth doula if you are interested. You can check out my website at www.greatexpectationsbirthservices.com if you are interested.

Venessa Giron (CPM, LM) doesn't deliver at the Mansfield hospital, but she's at one of the closest birthing centers to you: www.cleburnebirthingcenter.com ###-###-#### She is a Christian midwife and does deliver VBACs.

I also highly recommend Family Birth Services in Grand Prairie.

I used Molly Germash for the first 2 and Lisa Thomas for my last 2 and both are lovely. :)

Helen has been a midwife for 35 years and could definitely help you somehow!

Hello J.,
Congratulations on the new baby on the way!
I highly recommend Family Birth Services in Grand Prairie. Call for Helen at ###-###-####, and talk about your desire for a vbac. They are great people! ...And if you want to, tell them T. Coates said to call :o)
Blessings on you and your new little one!

I went VBAC with Dr. Cipriano at Associates in OBGYN in Bedford, and delivered at Harris HEB hospital (which I can't say enough good things about.) They were 100% supportive of my VBAC choice, and a great office in general. Hope this helps!

There is a team of midwives in one of the downtown fw hospitals. That is all I know of that are at a hospital, though I am sure there are more that I don't know of, maybe.

There are excellent midwives at birthing centers & who do homebirths. Family Birth Services was already mentioned - I had my first son there & my next three at home with the same midwife (she is now working from her own BC in Weatherford). The midwife experience is excellent, I have nothing to compare it to though ;)

Good luck!
