Seeking Martial Arts Classes for Families

As a family Christmas gift, I am looking to enroll the four of us in a martial arts program that would be good for beginners. Our children are 7-1/2 and 4-1/2 and none of us have any experience, though I think we are in decent physical condition. Does anyone have any recommendations for academies in the Ellicott City/Columbia area? I am primarily interested in karate and tae-kwan-do. Thank you!

What can I do next?

Hi, H., Contact Monique Washington @ ____@____.com does primarily girls and women, but I'm sure she would have a great referral for you. She knows all the best people involved in martial arts in your area. Enjoy!

I would highly recommend Klotz Karate in Columbia. Family owned. The owner's children often work there. THey have wonderful instructors and such a nice family atmosphere.

Hi H.,
my daughter, age 8, and son, age 6, have been going to KS WTMA Tae Kwon Do for 18 months and they love it. Their instructor, Master Ma, is incredible with the kids.
They are located at the corner of Rt 108 and 216 in Clarksville. I looked into 3 other studios before going with this one because they have smaller classes, more individualized attention, and a flexible schedule. They were ranked as one of the top 2 martial arts programs in howard county (best of howard county, dec 2009). Following is their website:

If you do go, please let Master Ma know that Erica and Adam's mom referred you and he will give you a free lesson. Good luck.
