Seeking Low Cost Baseball Game

My nearly three year old daughter wants to go to a baseball game. Really. She's been asking consistently for over a month. Since I have no clue as to where to find a cheap or free game to attend, I though I'd ask here. Any age player would work, since I just want to indulge her curiosity. We are in the South Metro.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you to everyone that responded! It was exactly what I was looking for. There are so many options to catch a game!!! I think we'll be able to find something for this weekend. Perhaps this is the start of something new. . .

You could also see some baseball at the Hrbek Fields in Bloomington (90th & Nicollet Avenue). Typically this is for little league (ages 9-12). And the next couple weeks are tournament, so would think you could see some ballgames in action.

I know my son (9-10) will be playing the following weekend, so not sure what level this weekend. Of course, our age of 9-10 may not be as exciting, but even the older kids 11-13 - play good ball and it might be worth the trip for a short period of time.

Enjoy.

S. - since the high school and college teams only play during april/May/June, the next best "free" baseball at a fairly high level is American Legion or Town Ball. My son is 16 and plays on our local American Legion team. The players age in range from 16-19 so you're going to see a fairly good game. If you go to league games they are free. Tournaments on the weekend will cost you money to get into the gate. We live in the Apple Valley area and you can google Apple Valley American Legion Baseball to find our website and find the schedule. Most communities have a league so you can find one close to you.

Have fun!

Call your city hall park and rec department and find out when the local teams are playing. There are teams of all ages that play everynight of the week and weekends. You might also find this on line. Plus they are free. She is three so I expect after a few inning she would be ready to move on to other things. You live in the south metro and are there many baseball and softball field to choose from. Enjoy

This weekend the AAA teams (highest level) for ages 10-14 are playing in their state tournament at a baseball complex in Apple Valley. It is either called Eastview or is near Eastview High School. I can give you the directions if you are interested. I am going to a 12-year-old game at 2:00 today and I know there are games this morning, this evening, Saturday and Sunday. Next weekend (July 17-19) the AA teams (next level down) have their state tournament in Eagan at Goat Hill Park and the Lexington/Diffley fields. Once again, there are games during the day on Friday, Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. My son plays next Friday at 1:00 and 5:00. It won't be perfect, but she could see some decent baseball. They have concession stands so she could even get a hot dog! I've also heard the the Legion teams the other poster mentioned play really good baseball. Send me a message if you need more information or a website to check schedules. The youth baseball season is wrapping up so you just have a week to a week and a half left if that is the route you want to go. If you end up at a game at Goat Hill Park in Eagan it has a playground for your other children. Have fun. Oh, here's the website for the youth baseball schedules and locations: www.mbl.bz. Playoffs will be going on for certain age groups starting Monday the 13th in the evening and going on until the 22nd or 23rd.

Added: Turns out the games this weekend are at Johnny Cake Ridge Park at Johnny Cake Road and 140th in Apple Valley.

Adult co-ed slowpitch softball AV fields, southeast corner of 140 and Johnny Cake, I think games start at 6 or so. And another league plays at the complex behind Eagan High School and elementary school, I think they start at the same time. i think both leagues are going. You could call city rec offices and they can tell you if they still play.
