I'm looking for swimming lessons for my 5 year old in East Plano (near Parker). My daughter can swim, but I want her to learn more skills while I'm not working. I was laid off in January so am looking for swimming lessons early June, if possible.

What can I do next?

I teach swim lessons at my home in North Garland, close to Shiloh and George Bush. I have a few spots left in the second half of May, and I have a few spots left the week of June 8th. If that's not too far for you call me at: ###-###-####. Thanks, L.

J.,
The plano rec centers offer swimming lessons. We live near the intersection of Spring Creek & Jupiter and there is Oak Point Rec Center. Also, the Tom Mulenbeck center off of Parker and almost Preston (may be a little far for you). Nonetheless, the Oak Point Center is worth it. The cost is $80 for an entire year from date of purchase that can be paid out monthly or at one time. My children go almost daily in the Summer. You can visit http://www.plano.gov/Departments/ParksAndRecreation/Pages... or www.plano.gov (parks & recreation) for more information on swimming lessons as they have both indoor and outdoor pools, basketball, tennis, etc. The membership includes all Plano rec centers. It is truly worth it!
Regards,
L.

My daughter takes lessons in North Garland from Linda Williamson. She is amazing!! I can not say enough about her. She teaches at her home. The student/teacher ratio is small. Her number is ###-###-####.

Metroplex Gymnastics and Swim in Allen is fantastic. Paige Hudec in particular is great. Your child will be swimming in two weeks. They also have an indoor observation area where parents can watch. I have always been leary of places that don't let the parents watch.

Swim Plus is great and is located at Parker and Ave K. Your child gets a 30 minute one-on-one lesson at an indoor pool.

The indoor swim structure in Allen does lessons. I believe that is the Don Radenbaugh center or something like that.

Check with Emler at Park and Ohio. Not sure how much it cost this year, but they are great with the kids.

Plano Parks and Recreation program use to have a sliding pay scale. Might be able to get free swimming lessons. Good luck.
