Seeking LASIK Surgery in Denver Metro Area

Okay, so I am a bit disillusioned after going to a laser surgery office (LasikPlus to be specific) today only to find out that, of course, my eyes are different (flat cornea, and some other stuff) and will need the most expensive package that they offer, which would cost over $4000!!! I have a feeling that there was a bit of up-sell going on, but I have no real way of knowing as they showed me the printouts from the equipment and explained things, but unless you're in the business, who knows? It is like taking your car in for repairs and being told that there are more things wrong with your vehicle. I think I'd really like to get a second opinion (possibly a third) because it is your eyesight afterall. I am not sure about the 20/20 Institute or Spivak Laser Center, but those are 2 names that come to mind. Has anyone had lasik done with LasikPlus or another company? What was your experience like. I have been wearing glasses (occasionally contacts) for 19 years now and am tired of it. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I ended up having LASIK surgery done last week at Spivak Vision Center. I couldn't be happier! It went very well and the whole process was pretty smooth. It is so strange to be able to see things now without glasses. Thanks to everyone for their advice.

Hi-I went through TLC Laser Eye Centers and had a really good experience. My outcome was excellent. They are not a company that offers 2 for 1, but when I was dealing with my eyesight I wanted the best, as I am sure you can appreciate:)
I would highly recommend this center. I am not sure if they have other centers, but the one I went to was located on Colorado and I-25. Good luck!

I used Dr. Karen Heuer for my Lasik nine years ago and she is awesome! She will give you a free consultation and will be completely honest with you about your eyes. I had a huge astigmatism in both eyes and supposedly back then, they couldn't correct this with Lasik, but Dr. Heuer did. I am 20/10 in both eyes even now. She is a bit more expensive than some current clinics, but she includes all pre and post operative care and you actually see her every time (not just a technician). I would recommend her to everyone I know. Email me if you want more details.

Good news Z.. I went to Dishler Lasik (Dr. Dishler), which was presented to me as the very best, most experienced, most state-of-the-art Lasik doctor in metro-Denver. I have every reason to believe that is true.

I had a great experience last February. Nobody tried to fool me. They were very clear on the pros and cons and the price. I believe that the consultation is free.

I had dry eyes and couldn't wear contacts, so I was warned that I might have "extended dry eye" after the surgery, which means that I'd have to put in eye drops many times per day for a longer period of time than the average patient. I think most patients put those drops in many times daily for 1-2 months. I had to do that for six months. Finally, I have days now where I don't use the drops at all. Mine was an unusual case, but it was totally worth it vs. the results.

Lastly, Dishler sent me a coupon "for a friend" last month, worth $1500. off the normal price. I was thinking of asking them for more coupons, because I advertised it in my newsletter, and that's where I found the recipient. They might go for that idea. Send me a note if you'd like me to try to obtain another coupon. C.

My husband had LASIK done at the 20/20 Institute. As far as your specific eye situation, I'm not sure what they would charge. His eyes were pretty "standard" so he didn't have to have anything beyond the basic zapping done. The doctors were very nice, the facility is nice (I accompanies him) and he has been pleased with their work and the outcome. They do one on one consulting, maybe something you would want check out with them??? Again, I don't have much info regarding cost and eye specifics, but wanted to pass along that he did like the 20/20 Institute.

Z.,

I finally had my lasik done 1/2007 and then enhanced 2/2008. I was so scared! It was painful because I had to have EK because of thin corneas. It took about 2 weeks to see 20/30 and 20/50 and now I am 20/15 and 20/20 and my night vision is great so is reading up close. I had it done at the Lasik Vision Institute and it was $2,300 (the enhancement was included after the 1 year). I have never been so excited. If you want more info send me an email. I don't their info in front of me right now.Let me know and hope this helps. M. ____@____.com

Hi, Z.,

Both my husband & I had our vision correction surgeries through LasikPlus and they did a great job. We both had more complicated cases, as well; we ended up having the PRK surgery which is also more expensive and a longer recovery time but still effective. I think that they were pretty forthright with their business dealings.

You may want to check and see if your vision insurance will help offset some of the costs. If you don't mind biding your time, LasikPlus usually runs some pretty good promotions...maybe they'll be doing something around the holidays that will help bring the price down. 4K is alot of money, but I bet even if you get a 2nd or 3rd opinion, you'll find it'll be right in that ballpark.

I had mine done on August 1st this year. My husband had his last Thanksgiving. I would recommend them to you without reservation.

My step-sister had her Lasik through Spivak vision and also had good results. We opted to go to LasikPlus because it's close to where we live and we felt the surgeon was very qualififed.

Hope this helps and good luck!

Hi - I did my lasik surgery at Spivak about 3 years ago and have had NO problems! They were very professional and I was pleased with every thing about my experience there. I did do my pre and post op visits with my regular optometrist, Dr Vincent of Highlands Ranch Vision Center. The pre, post visits and my surgery were all included in one price. I would recommend starting with Dr. Vincent then doing your surgery at Spivak. I live in Lakewood but still drive to Highlands Ranch for my exams as I was really happy with my visits. Also, I did visit the 20/20 Institute when looking into lasik and was not comfortable with that place. You just have to check it out & go with what you feel is best. Best of luck to you...I hope you are as happy with your lasik as I am with mine. p.s. - A lot of people I work with have gone to Spivak with successful results.

Hi Z. - My husband and I both had Lasik done 2 years ago this month and ICON Lasik on Colorado Blvd and Mexico Ave. We have both been very pleased with our surgery and the follow up we've had. I would highly recommend them - and they are more affordable than some other places. I have heard that if you are pregnant are going to have more children, you may want to wait, as pregnancy can affect your eyes. I had my surgery done about 1 month or so after weaning my last child who is now 3. Good luck to you! I wore glasses or contacts for 27 years and I love not having to worry about any of that as I am always on the go with 3 small kids. C. M.
