I know a great personal friend Subrata Guha whose into children's and family portraits. You can have a look at his website www.fine-arts-imagery.com. I have done my kids photo shoots and family portraits form him for the past 2 year's now, and believe me he's very patient, and understanding with them and the parents as well. Definitely not break a bank kind at all..

Hello Sara, I dont know where you are located but CLIX! in Willows Shopping Center in Concord is great. Tell either Melanie or Christy (the two owners) that "A Strandwood Mom" sent you. Strandwood is the school our kids go to. They do fantastic work and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Not sure if this is what you had in mind, but I love the Picture People studios. There's no sitting fee. As many people can be in the photos as you like for one fee. One page (8x10 or 2 5x7 or 8 wallets, etc.) is $18-$20 each. They advertise a lot of coupons so you can often get up to 20% off every additional sheet.

If you Google Picture People you can look up where they have locations. I go to the one in Modesto. They are geared toward children, are very friendly, and very professional. I got a photo of my son every month from the time he was 8 months old to 26 months old.

The only downfall to them, I think, is that they don't have a variety of backdrops. They have solid blue, black, brown, white, and cloudy looking. But they take GREAT pictures full of personality, there are always lots to choose from (even with my shy son) and they offer a variety of photo packages if you want more than one picture.

This gentleman is a great photographer and is a father of two VERY rambunctious boys. I know him through little league and he is EXTREMELY patient and kind. I don't know his prices as his website is under construction, nor do I know if he travels or if you would have to come to him. But here's the contact information for him.

I'm a photographer and I deal mostly with kids. I do outdoor photo shoots. We find a nice place outdoors and take about 75-10 pics. I give 5x7 prints of each pic taken in an album and give you the negatives to do with what you please.

I also make a dvd with music using the pics taken.

I recommend CLIX! in the Willows shopping ctr in Concord a well. We just had some pix taken for family & for our X-Mas card that turned out really nice. Just be forewarned: 1) they will try to sell you one of their packages which can be pretty pricey & 2) be prepareed to spend a lot of time going thru the pix & choosing poses & sheets. I have also used Picture People in Sun Valley (they're in most malls) for quite some time. They're cheaper & the photogs are less experienced but still get good shots at good prices: no sitting fees & $18/sheet of photos.
