Seeking Info on Weight Loss

I keep hearing differnt things about over the counter products on the economy. I am a little concerned because I don't think the German laws are as heavily regulated for ingrediants as the FDA in the US. I don't want to get something that works and come up hot on urinalysis. If there are any German ladies out there that can give advice and and some education on this, that would be great. I cannot do a lot of working out, I had back surgery and running is extremely hard. Very busy schedule at work, and hard to get to they GYM.

What can I do next?

Hey T.-I am taking Alli right now which you can find at the BX or PX. It is the first FDA apporved over the counter weight loss pill and I consulted with my dr. before taking it and he said it was ok to take. You're supposed to eat only 15 grams of fat per meal otherwise you will have some side effects like diarrhea. It has been pretty good so far. I have noticed a difference in my clothes-not so much the poundage yet.
Good luck-that is a tough situation! H.

Hi, for the past several months I have been on Weight Watchers online. I really found that it is easy to use and you can eat what you want, as long as you stay in your points range. You get extra points when you workout, any kind of workout, which means you can eat a little more. I log in my food intake everyday. If I don't know how many points a certain food is, I look it up on the calorie tracker when I log into Weight Watchers. I've liked being able to eat all the foods I love, in moderation of course:)

I would not recomend takeing pills to help with wieght loss. My husband did and when he had his gull bladder taken out his splen ended up cracking cause it was so britle form takeing wieght control pills.

Supplements are never a really good idea, especially if you want to keep the weight off. Try Weight Watchers on-line. My Husband lost 40 lbs without working out and I lost 30 lbs without working out.

I live in Englad so cannot give advice on German diet product. I also lead a really hectic life and have back problems. I find using an exercise ball at home (stretching) helps and so does yoga (you can get lots of videos). I would also recommend swimming if you can fit it into your schedule.
Good luck!

Hi there,
I am a SAHM of 2 kids. I was about 35 pounds overweight and very unhappy till I found Eat 2 Live. It is a mostly Vegetarian/Vegan diet but he also has one that is not as aggressive that allow some chicken and eggs. You eat allot of veggies and soy products. In 6 weeks I dropped 30 pounds and went from a size 11-12 to a size 5-7. I was not really exercising besides taking my kids outside and to the parks and zoos. It was amazing how much lighter I felt when I got off of the meat and dairy. Also it is better to if you can stop drinking caffeine. I know that that is a hard one but maybe try to cut down at first and then faze it out.The books is Eat to Live by Dr Joel Fuhrman. There is also a get Yahoo group that I belong to and they are very supporting and can answer allot of your questions.http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Eat-2-Live/
Good luck to you and I really hope that you find what is right for you.
I would not take supplements though as I found that a change is lifestyle and eating is allot better and will help you keep the weight off for good!

I do know that supplements only offer short term help no matter what you get. I can tell you what worked for me after I had my daughter and I have alot of back problems. If you drink coffee switch to green tea that is 10 pounds in a month. Soy milk instead of milk and when I eat I eat half veggies and the meat and side dish the other half. I also walk everywhere I can and take a vitamin that speeds up my metabolism. There are more things but those seem to be what changed my weight. I went from a size 14 to 10 in 4 months without a gym everyday or even working out. Almost forgot no soda and water at least 4 times a day.Good luck S. A.
