Seeking Info on Cheap Contacts/eyeglasses

Hi Ladies,

My husband had worn the same pair of glasses since I had met him 7yrs ago. Well last summer they finally broke, so he went to Walmarts eye center and paid I think $129 for the contacts exam. Well that will expire next month, so I was wondering if anyone knows of the best, cheapest way to get contacts and eyeglasses. I have never needed eyeglasses so I have no experience what so ever, and I see specials all over but don't really know what is a good special. He really needs a pair of eyeglasses in addition to contacts. If anyone knows of a "really" cheap place to get the eye exam, a pair of glasses and contacts...Please let me know. Any info will be greatly appreciated!!!

What can I do next?

I have gone to eyemasters and taken advantage of the buy one get one free. Since you have the first eye dr prescription...walmart does both. Have to have glass done before contact one *my son is how I know that*. You should haave the glass prescription to take. If not, then that walmart did not do what I have had done at 2 different ones.

Otherwise, Walmart is usually the cheapest.

For myself I just called Sams club and they will do vision exams for $50. I think that was for glasses, so I'm not sure how much it would be for contacts exam. Then try this link for cheap glasses starting at $8 for glasses. http://zennioptical.com They do all sorts- even bifocals or sunglasses. Two people I know used them and said they are great. I'm going to try them.

I would also recommend getting new contacts/glasses before the perscription expires if his visions hasn't changed much. The perscriptions are good for one year. I have always used my insurance to get everything so I'm not sure on pricing, but I have always heard Wal-Mart is the cheapest for contacts.

If his vision has not changed since last Summer, your husband should still be able to use his last prescription for contacts and glasses before it expires next month. And although I have never ordered contacts from Wal-Mart, I think they are just about the least expensive for contacts and probably glasses, too.(my mom takes her prescription from a different opthamologist to Wal-Mart to save money on her contacts.) Another inexpensive way to order contacts is on-line, but again, you'll have to hurry before the prescription expires. Good luck!
