Seeking Inexpensive Math Tutor for Middle School Girls
I am searching for an inexpensive math tutor for two middle schools girls, 7th and 8th grades. They are weak in many areas and have failed their past TAKS grade level math exams. I am willing to pay but can't afford "Sylvan" level fees. I'd prefer a high school or college level female but will work with retired math teachers as well.

L.,
I just wanted to pass this on to you - Moving with Math is an EXCELLENT program that really helps build math skills. It is a set of lessons that use manipulatives to help kids understand math. I used it a few years ago with some children that I taught and I was amazed at how well designed the program is. It comes with an instructor manual and would be very easy for you to use if you decided to take that route and teach your children on your own - or even if you wanted the tutor to use the materials to teach. I strongly recommend it. I once worked for a tutoring company and the math program was based entirely on Moving With Math. They h ad tremendous success with it. You can find their materials online. Good luck!!

If you haven't yet found anyone to help maybe post an ad on Craigslist? Lots of college kids on craigslist.

My 12th grade daughter would probably be interested. She is now almost finished pre-calculus and scored extremely high marks in the PSAT (top 1%). We are near Austin Park n' Pizza, off I35. She has tutored a young child before, and charges $15 an hour.

Your information was refered to me by another mom on MamaSource. I have three young children(2, 4, and 6) and run an In-Home Tutoring Service. I have tutors who work for me that would be more than able to help out both of your daughters. Our rates are very affordable and you only pay for the help you need. We have no contracts, we just go month by month. If you are interested, please fill out our online tutoring request and I will do my best to find someone to fit your needs. I do background checks on all of my tutors and each is either a certified teacher or a degreed professional so you will get what you pay for. We have a great program and we see excellent results. Another great benefit is that we work with the student on their current cirriculum to bring them back up to speed. We help with homework and prepare for upcoming tests along with reviewing elements for better retention.
Our tutor request is located at: www.clubztutoring.com or just feel free to give me a call at ###-###-####.
Sincerely,
M. Smith

If you are still looking for someone, I know an excellent young college student who charges me $15 an hour. He has been doing algebra tutoring for my son. Let me know if you are still looking and I'll give you more info.
