Seeking Holistic Minded OB/GYN for My Pregnancy & Delivery
Recently found out I'm pregnant again and would really like to do this one more naturally. My last doctor was very cold & clinical, very into c-sections and inducing. I'm from San Francisco and got quite spoiled with the mentality of letting nature take it's course, but am having a hard time finding like-minded medical personnel down here. Does anyone know of any good docs in the Ft. Lauderdale area who use a more holistic approach and will work with/in a birthing center? Oh yeah, and they need to accept Medicaid (tall order, I know)! Any ideas would be much appreciated! Thanks!

I live in hollywood and I go to the miami maternity center. I love that they are open on sundays ( my husband has been able to make it to every appt) the head midwife lives on the grounds and there is always someone there if you need it. They are right off the 95 and It takes me maybe 15 mins to get there.
They do take medicaid. But if you are looking for an OB/GYN that works in a birth center you will not find one.
There is also a birth center in hollywood. I went for the tour but My husband and I were more impressed with the Miami Maternity Center's labor suites. The labor suites are in their own building (i think it was a house) and the offices are in another building on the grounds. The head midwife's house in on the ground and there is another house where classes are held. It is a pretty large area of land all of these building are on which get a lot of use if/when a mother needs to walk to help her labor along.

Good luck with your search.
Also if you have the time on discovery health @ 6 or 6:30 am there is a show called House of babies. This was filmed @ MMC so you can kinda see the labor suites.

Does it have to be an OB? I used the Hollywood Birth Center for my son's recent birth (he's 5 weeks today). They are very holistic and do accept medicaid. I was very happy with my care there.

H. - I delivered my daughter at the Hollywood Birth Center in Hollywood, Florida. They were wonderful. They offer lots of support, i.e, classes, etc. All natural and holistic. Definitely worth taking a tour of the center.
Also, on another note, I saw that you run a childcare center out of your home. I am currently looking for childcare for my 18 mos. old daughter. Do you have any openings? If so, I would love to learn more about your center. You can email me at ____@____.com
Thanks.
