Seeking Help with Cosmetology Grad Party

I'm planning a graduation party for my little sister who is graduating from cosmetology school to become a hairdresser. I would like to do something cute and salon themed. Any ideas for horderves and decorations would be great.

Thank you so much for all the advice. The spa party ideas sound fun. I will definately do that when it's a party for just us girls. Thanks again.

How about blue & pink cotton candy headdresses that they have to style as a party game? No hairspray necessary! You could put them on Honeydew melons and do the full makeover on them with goofy stickers or mrs. potato head pieces. You could even use frosting and candy pieces to decorate the hair. Sounds like a fun challenge! You can purchase bags of combs at the 99 cent store. also, try FamilyFun.com for other ideas.

Hi C.,
I graduated back in 1998 from Cosmotology in Santa Cruz and have been in the industry for a long time.
One night for a girlsfriends birthday I did Spa Night. The evening was a BIG Hit! There were about 6 of us. I had all Aveda products this was the night, candles burning, spa music,
wine, everything very healthy.
1. everyone came in Pjs
2. We soaked in the hot tub
3.(I had products in the shower)everyone did a body exfoliant
scrub, along with face products for deep cleanning
4. shampoo and conditioned
5. then applyed self tanner w/gloves
6. remind them to push their cuticles back in the shower
7. I had fresh salads with steamed asparagus wrapped with proscito and melons, green tea, small yummy pizza topped with
pesto and sundried tomatoes.
8. supplyed all nail products, files, polish,ect..
9. I did have a massuer as well.
It was alot of fun!
What a great big sister you are!
Good luck!

You don't say how long you have to plan this party, for invitations...you need to come up with a name for the salon party...chez la monique (or whatever your sisters name is). Once you have the name you can make invites look like appointment cards with the name of the salon on it & if you are good on computer Print them on postcards with the salon name and colors your have decided on....you can also choose an era such as the fiftys/fortys/sixty - seventys, eighties, and follow thru with a theme on that take, go to a school or salon & ask them if they have any old hair or salon posters to put up in the background. The cake you can even have pics put on the scaned on the cake for you, and for party favors, go to a beauty Supply store & get some additional ideas from the employees are always really helpful.

Good Luck

Hi C.,

I don't have any food ideas, but I do home spa partys that are alot of fun. It might be nice for her to be pampered before she starts to pamper others. Here is my web site let me know what you think. There no charge and she would get a free gift. http://www.beautipage.com/jennysutton/

hello..
If you go to the 2nd hand store, you can find curler and perm rods, then hair spray cans for the setting of a table. She will be able to use it starting up also. the Cake you can ask your baker to do something with hair styling, you might even find some things on ebay for party favors. I find things on there all the time. even things that can be printed with her name and date. HAVE FUN AND GOOD LUCK

I do "spa cafes" as well as skin analysis. If you are interested email me back for more info. It is a similar idea to a response you received with the Aveda products. I could also make packages up with skin care products or gift cerficates for a skin analysis as "take home" bags. Let me know. T.

Congratulations to your little sister :~) What month does she graduate? Will party be inside or outside? Contact me, i'd love to help. FYI I make all natural soy candles that burn up to 10 hours per oz.! The healthy alternative to parrafin. Candles make great centerpieces and gifts! Just a suggestion ;~) J. P
