Seeking Help on Finding a Good Pediatrician

I am new to this club and still fairly new to the area (we've been here 7 mos). My husband's health insurance through his new employer just went into effect and I'm looking for a pediatrician for my daughters, ages 8 and 5. I would even consider a good family doctor. My youngest seems to prefer female doctors - has always been a little scared of the male doctors but I want to choose based on the physician's manner, not gender! I looked at the business profiles on other pediatricians but several are in Fayetteville or even Springfield, MO (our old town). I live in the upper NW corner and don't want to drive that far, especially with an ill child. Any info would be wonderful - I still need to get their flu shots done if it isn't too late in the season!

What can I do next?

We use Dr. Chris Johnson (and LOVE him) and Dr. Gary Neaville at the Mercy-Rogers Medical Center. It is located on Walnut St., next door to St. Mary's hospital. They are both family practice doctors. I also like Dr. Jones, Dr. Donnell, and Dr. Leuders at this same clinic. They are all Dads, very mild mannered and kind...but men. There are a couple of lady pediatricians at the Mercy clinic next to the community college that are supposed to be good as well, and I've seen women pediatricians advertised in the Kid Directory (and have heard good things about them). I can't remember their names though, and don't have one lying around.

If you are closer to Siloam Springs, I've heard good things about Dr. Youmans. He is a dad of 5 or 6 kids, and also a family practice doc.

I hope this helps! Welcome to AR!
K.

I suppose your insurance will determine which doctor you will see in the end but if you can manage it Bentonville Pediatrics has a female doc and they are relatively close to Bella Vista. My girls see Simmons, he is a man but a wonderful and practical doc. You might give them a call and see if they accept your insurance. 479/273-5779.
Good luck!

I don't know which part of northwest Arkansas you live in, but if you live around Gravette, I would suggest Dr. David Tucker(he delivered all 3 of my kids) or Dr. Nancy Jones(a personal friend of mine) They are both in the same clinic, which is through Mercy Health and the # is ###-###-####. Hope that helps
By the way they are both family Dr's.

I take my daughter to the Pediatrics at Mercy Medical Clinic in Rogers/Bentonville beside the NWACC. I use Dr. Scherer and I really really like him. They also have (2) female pedi's as well. I have not met w/them but heard good things. :)
Welcome to Arkansas!

A.,

My 3 kids see Dr. Kimberly Cadle and have gone there for 2 1/2 years. She is a part of Bentonville Pediatrics and my kids really look forward to visiting her. The nurses on staff are very nice as well.

I'm not sure exactly where you live but is Bentonville closer to you? If so my son has a great female doctor at the Bentonville Pedatric Center named Dr. Cadle. If you would like more info just let me know. Best of luck!
