Backpain can be normal, cramping is not! Call your doctor, it could be preterm labor. If it is not painful, just tightening of your belly than it might just be Braxton Hicks. But if you feel any pressure, a strange feeling in your thighs or painful contractions, get to the doctor's office. Lay down on your side, put your feet up, and time them. If they go away, mention to your doctor but likely it's nothing to worry about. If they don't subside, it's time to be seen. I don't mean to scare you but I had to go on bedrest with both of my pregnancies for that reason.

Hey there, I'm 5 months preggo too! And having the same darn issues! I am pregnant with my second child and with the first I had cramps through-out the pregnancy and the piercing backaches during the last trimester. This time the backaches started MUCH sooner. Does your back hurt most when you first sit down and when you stand up? Then just ache the rest of the time? If so, it's most likely due to the muscles in your pelvic area relaxing and stretching, for whatever reason it puts major stress on my tailbone. Wear comfortable shoes and try not to arch your back and push your belly out, it only makes it worse. If you have a desk job, try sitting on a donut to relieve some pressure. I have cramps off and on during the day and at night when I roll over I get sharp pains in my abdomen and also if I stand up while holding my other child, just another way the body is prepairing for that baby...lots of stretching and growing, ya know? If this sounds like you, yes, it's normal (but always worth discussing with your doctor) If you are having constant cramping and it has recently started or is accompanied by spotting, definately talk to your doctor. FYI, vicoden and percocet are safe to take during this trimester, my doc prescribed it for the migrains I started having when I hit the second trimester, but taking them in the 3rd could lead to the baby being born with a drug dependance. You still have plenty of time to start seeing a new doctor if you don't feel like you are getting the most responsive care. You're not alone. Hope this helps!

My first bit of advice is to find a new doctor! This is a very scary and emotional time for you right now and you need to know you are safe and getting the best care possible. Second, I am pregnant with my second son and have been experiencing the same pains. The doc said that the pain often gets worse with each pregnancy cause you are stretching further and further. However, it can be a bad sign so find a doctor to take you seriously and check it out! Better safe than sorry!

I think it is important that you contact your doctor and see if it can be urinary tract infection for instance. with my first preganacy i ignored backpains thinking that it was normal part of pregancy accordign to everybody else, yet I neded up in pretem alabor at 26 weeks. If I were you, I would be very quick and go check with my doctor, insist that a urinalysis be done.

I have alot of back problems too. One of the best things that helps me is going to a chiropractor. It really helps to ease the pain, and I feel a ton better.

I'm sorry to hear your having a rough time. There is a Dr. Jeffrey Brown at 10120 S. Eastern Ave phone####-###-####. He is a D.O. and he helps pregnant women who have pain. There's no drugs involved. I think he could be just what you're looking for.

I've been there and I can tell you from previous experience that pregnancy sure can ba a backache...among many others! I had cramping too. It turned out to be totally normal (from my growing belly), but I did get it checked. Its always best to err on the side of caution...I'd talk to the OB about it. You had mentioned your OB wasn't very "kind" when it comes to pain. If you really feel that way you should look for another OB. Don't walk...run!!! You DESERVE to feel totally comfortable with your OB and also feel like they are taking your concerns to heart. During my pregnancy I went through something similar and I actually switched OB's b/c of it and it was the best thing I ever did! Hang in there...I know pregnancy can be tough. In the end it will be so worth it...you'll see that sweet little baby and nothing els will matter! Good luck to you and take care.:)
